Hi. Would really appreciate if someone could help me decipering an occupation as seen on a 1871 census taken in Bristol (St Philip & Jacob) for a "Samuel Aldin". The occupation is written on both the top line and the bottom line of my attachment, and looks like something-"Works" ??

Many thanks,

Scott.

Thanks,

Is there anyone related to this lady (particularly in Ireland) who could help me?

The information I have is that she married my g-g-grandfather Isaac PINKER in Australia in 1867 (and apparently in 1868 as well after she came of age?) whilst he was serving in the 50th Regiment of Foot. But who her parents were, and how she came to Australia is a mystery. I also know that Norah and Isaac ended up in Perth, Western Australia after he had done his 21 years of service (they are buried at Guildford).

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Scott.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Charles SMITH of Brighton (b 1858)

Is anyone related to this chap who could possibly help me out?

He is my g-grandfather. I have a marriage certificate for 1889 some time after he came out to Sydney, Australia (married Amelia Victoria TIPPETT). I also have cencus information for when he was living in Brighton (parents George and Mary Ann SMITH - nee JEFFERIES).

I cannot find any record of his emmigration to Australia, but the big mystery is that according to family 'legend' he was a 'lead violinist' with the Saddler Wells Company and performed in Gilbert and Sullivan productions when he came to Australia. However he is listed as a 'Plumber' in the 1881 cencus ??

I would be very greatful for any information.

I am finding it difficult getting details on  Joseph Samuel ALDEN of Bristol who was born abt.1850 and died abt.1883.  Some cencus information has him listed as Samuel ALDEN living in Bristol; but I think Joseph is his first name. Would be greatful for any help.
