Scotland / Sweeney.
« on: Saturday 26 March 22 20:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I have been researching the members of the Sweeney family in Ireland , Scotland and the US for a good few years now.
I would really like to hear from anyone who has also researched the Sweeney family who desend from, David Sweeney and Kate Heggerty  and their son Denis sweeney who married Mary Boyle. Denis and Mary moved to Dumbarton in Scotland in the 1880s. I am the great grand daughter of Annie Sweeney (later Porterfield) who was the youngest of Denis and Marys children.

Dunbartonshire / John Patton in Dumbarton 1940
« on: Monday 30 December 19 01:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all , thought I do a wee quick project ( if there is such a thing) and try to look into the history of the house I grew up in . My parents reckon it was built in the 1930s but looking at SP I can only find a John Patton living there in 1940 ,nothing in earlier valuation rolls . I have searched SP for Pattons living at Dumbuck Road Dumbarton but nothing is showing up . I would love to know if they were the first owners or were there others before them and when did the Patton family or John leave? . Thanks x

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Margaret Skinner and her husband
« on: Sunday 27 January 13 22:05 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone please help me ,brick wall time again.I am looking for death certificate information for my great aunt Margaret Skinner nee Porterfield.Margaret sometimes known as Maggie was born in Dumbarton,Scotland on the 19th of December 1886 to Robert Porterfield and his wife Margaret nee McGregor .Margaret had brothers Robert and Charles and a sister Agnes. On September 27 1912 Margaret married Henry Skinner a marine engineer ,they had both been born and raised in the same close though Henry was 6 yrs her senior,he really had known her since she was a baby.Margaret was 25 when she married Henry 31yrs.Nine months after the wedding Margaret gave birth to a baby boy also named Henry at 4 Dumbarton Road Old Kilpatrick Scotland. One week later baby Henry had died of conginital syphilis. After that the couple appeared to have disappeared completely until I stumbled across a lucky find last week.In the archives of our local news paper I found an announcement for Henry's death...It read SKINNER at 32 Studly Road,Forest Gate London on the 9th March 1930,Henry beloved husband of Margaret Porterfield youngest son of William Skinner boilermaker Dumbarton. So Maggie is still alive and living in London in 1930!!!Now I need to find her death certificate can anyone help.I am completely confused by all the sites for English certificates ,I am unsure what to do next  ???
