Hi All,
Being a complete newbie, I am looking to trace my father's Spanish relatives but am completely overwhelmed and cant seem to find anything much.... Apologies in advance if this is a bit garbled!
My father, (*) was born in Larache in 1926 and came to England via Gibraltar evacuation with his mother, ANA BALSAMO (nee GONZALEZ SANCHEZ) (b Gibraltar 1900) and her second husband JOSE BALSAMO CHACON (b Tangiers approx 1885; parents CAYETANO BALSAMO, Algeria? and JOSEFA CHACON, Marbella) in 1942. I think Jose returned to Gib and later died there, dates unknown. When they arrived in the UK they stayed at Marlborough Court before later going to Ireland.
ANA's parents were JOSE GONZALEZ SCOTTO from Gibraltar and MARGARITA SANCHEZ FERNANDEZ from Benadilid, Malaga.
ANA's first husband (my gfather) was JESUS VALDIVIA DE HARO and was born in Guadix, Granada. His father ? VALDIVIA MEDIALDEA and mother MANUELA DE HARO CUEVA.
I believe ANA had at least two sisters, one MARY? married a military man, SHORT in Gib and I think they had a son (*) who later had a daughter and lived in Northumberland, UK?
Please can someone help me with where to start?
