The Common Room / Why census not showing on Ancestry?
« on: Wednesday 09 December 15 16:18 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone offer a reason or an explanation why a family on the 1871 census is not found on Ancestry or Family Search, yet they all show up on Scotlands People ?

The Common Room / Married at 13 ?
« on: Thursday 21 March 13 09:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hello experts

The 1861 census shows a Joseph Draper age 14, son of George and a Emma Collyer age 13, daughter in law of George, all living in Ivinghoe, Bucks, would this young couple really have been married at such a young age ?

Family History Beginners Board / Death of a young boy
« on: Friday 25 January 13 17:16 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone able to do a look up please in the Andrews Newspaper Index Cards, I have information about the death of a young boy which I am struggling to confirm, I have his name as Philip Wright born in Rugby 1935, I am told he died of drowning at the coast as a young child, yet with all my searches, I am coming up with nothing.  There is a card for a Philip Wright dated 15th Feb 1943.

Thankyou in advance

Travelling People / O'Neil, Neil, Baxter, Scotland
« on: Wednesday 06 July 11 10:34 BST (UK)  »
Would any of you good people out there know about this family ?

I believe my gggrandfather was an Archibald O'Neil and his father before him called the same, he was born abt 1834, yet to find a cert of this, conflicting reports say he was born in Ireland and others say Dumfries.  He married an Anne Baxter,  maybe baptised as Mary Anne Baxter.  Still yet to find a cert of this marriage. So far i have discovered 8 children, who knows their could be more.

Anne Baxter was born in Ayr and her father John in Kirkcudbright.

Both families are down as being travelling tinsmiths, tinkers etc, only in 1881 it says that Archibald was " Head of Tnk Fain ", living in Tynron, Dumfries.

Could anyone shed any light on this and is their anyone with a connection to these people ?  Are their any web sites or books, where i could get more info please ?

Really hoping for a response
