Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Family tree websites

Hi all,

I use 'Tribal Pages' as a 'host website' for my family tree at a cost of around £25 - £30 per annum. It does have a lot of good features and allows photograph upload etc but I have found that it does seem to be very 'US based'.

Are there any other similar websites that are more 'UK based' that anyone would recommend - and do you think what I am paying represents value for money - as there are very limited search facilities associated with the site?  Any comments or advice very welcome

Does anyone have any info or links that would provide any info on the British Army on the Rhine football team. My father played with them around 1950 - 52 and I would be interested in any detail of them around this time

Armed Forces / 1st World War Regiments

My great uncles (McCues) were both killed in the 1st World War. My research has one (John) in the Argyll & Southern Highlanders and the other (Thomas) in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. The war memorial in their own town has Thomas listed as being in the RSF (see pic).

Would anyone be able to shed any light on this discrepancy?

The 1911 Scotland Census comes on line next week on Scotland's People website but thought it might be worth letting people know that the minimum charge for credits will rise from £6 to £7 on 1st April.

So if your planning to do any research on new census it may be worth buying some credits now before the new charges kick in - the number of credits required to view results will remain the same

Hi - just had a result after doing a bit of research about family in Oz. Discovered this picture of my Great Uncle Stephen 'Ignatius' Goggins who was a priest in Australia in early to mid 1900s  - he is one in middle - could anyone enhance it to give a better picture please

World War One / medal index cards

Can anyone explain what the detail means on WW1 medal roll index cards?

I have two cards - one with with the Ref: B/101 B . 6 (I think?!!) followed by page No 451 beside the column for Victory medal and then this is repeated beside the British medal. Beside the Star medal the reference is B/ 72 page 262

The other references G/105 B 20 Page 2044 beside the column for Victory medal and then this is repeated beside the British medal

Any info would be much appreciated
