Please can anyone tell me anything about this photo.
It was discovered recently in a batch of photo's that my mother had saved.
I was hoping it might have been of my father but i cannot make him out at all.
His unit in WWII was The 157th Rly Con Coy.
Many thanks for looking, I might try and post it for setoration also if that is allowed.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo for restoration please
« on: Thursday 12 July 12 12:55 BST (UK)  »
Would it be possible for anyone to restore this old photo please?
It hasn't had the best of care as can be seen :|
It was a polaroid snap from 30-40 years ago, trapped in a house fire and subsequently soaked in the rescue.
Many thanks for being here.
Best regards

World War Two / 157th Railway Construction Company, R.E.
« on: Monday 21 March 11 10:47 GMT (UK)  »
Please would anyone help me to understand my father's service file.
I have attached a scan of part of the form 'Army Form B200B'.
Question 1:
Does line one of the written entry "Attested" simply mean he joined up on 24.11.39 and was sent to R Co.2.R.T.B Longmoor on the same day ?
Question 2:
What does "R Co.2.R.T.B" mean ?
Question 3:
On line four under 'Unit' it says "D" Coy " 2.R.T.B.R.E. then "Posted" then "27.11.39". Does this mean he joined "D" Coy on 24.11.39 and was posted on to 3rd Depot Batt. on 27.11.39 ?
(I'm quite confused at what order these postings took place)
Question 4:
On line six it says "Posted from 8th(Railway) Training Batt.
How does he get to  8th(Railway) Training Batt. ?
Question 5:
From line 8, what does "Serial No. R.M.J.H.D" mean ?
Question 6:
From line nine, what does "2nd Ech" signify and will it help me to find out  where he was and what he did in the B.E.F. ?
Question 7:
From line eleven, does this date make sense?
Finally but most importantly I would just like to ask how I will be able to find out where my father was in his time in the B.E.F. and what he did.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Armed Forces / Royal Engineers, BEF, 1940 →
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 11:05 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about my father who joined up in 1939 and 'proceeded to BEF' soon after (11/3/40).
His name was William (Bill) John George Barlow.
He was born in Llanrwst, North Wales.
His date of enlistment was 24.11.1939.
He enlisted in Caernarfon.
He was Royal Engineers, 157th Rly Con Coy

I am told that he had shrapnell wounds to the leg and neck but I'm unable to find any detail of this.
Sadly he passed away in 1981 and I am embarrassed to admit I knew nothing of his history in the war.

I do have a copy of his records from Glascow but I am having some difficulty fitting the pieces together and also understanding a lot of the writing.

If anyone can help me further I would be extremely grateful.
Many thanks
Ady Barlow

PS
DOES ANYONE THINK IT WOULD BE WORTH STARTING INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS WITHIN ROOTS CHAT FOR EACH CORPS AND OR UNIT OR IS THIS ALLREADY DONE (BUT I'M YET TO FIND IT:)
AND IF NOT, HOW IS IT DONE?
