Dublin / Rotunda Hospital
« on: Tuesday 27 May 14 20:59 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in the Rotunda Hospital. I have reason to believe that records for births began in the 18th century. Would anyone know if there is an email address so that I could enquire about a birth for 1797.  I have made an enquiry of the National Archives but no reply.  Would like to contact the hospital directly. Also would anyone know if they would check their records for me.

Thank you for any response.

Westmeath / Robert Stanley - Athlone
« on: Saturday 03 August 13 04:45 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for a Robert Stanley, b: 1757 who married Anne Adamson.  Robert's father was Robert, b: 1727 Inchmore & wife was Jane Sherlock

He was a Church Warden in 1786 & Vestryman between 1785-1803, St. Mary's. Was a lessee of a plot in 11 Mardyke Street. Athlone.

If anyone has any information on this family, it would be greatly appreciated.

Westmeath / Church Wardens
« on: Friday 12 July 13 04:23 BST (UK)  »
I was browsing through Westmeath when I came upon the Fleeson family. No interest but there is  mention of a film 101011.  My main concern is church wardens 1699-1800.

As I am still trying to locate info on a Robert Stanley, church warden of Athlone in 1786. would this film mention all names of church wardens in that time period.  And if so, what other info would be given on the individual?  I also notice parish registers, burials & marriages. I have not been able to locate Robert's burial, marriage ,etc. so I assume this film would also list names & date of marriage, burial, etc.

Thank you for a reply.

Dublin / Parsonstown
« on: Wednesday 06 February 13 22:56 GMT (UK)  »
I located a death notice, 1857 in Freeman's Journal for an ancestor who was from Dublin City. Her husband died a year previous in Dublin, both buried at Mount Jerome.

However, it shows she was residing at Parsonstown when she died. I believe is 70 miles from Dublin.  Would anyone know if there may have been a village community called Parsonstown in Dublin?  Thank you.

Armed Forces / baptism certificate
« on: Friday 25 January 13 21:57 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone know if when joining the Army if one had to present his baptism cert. In checking army records, location & date of birth were recorded but no baptism found.

Isn't this unusual as no one was commissioned in those days unless they could prove they had been baptised C of E.

Much appreciated if anyone would have the answer.

Dublin / Kilmainham Hospital Dublin
« on: Monday 14 January 13 01:03 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for a George Adamson Stanley. Retired from Armed Forces around 1840-45. He may have been in the Kilmainham Hospital, Dublin as on his marriage cert. in 1845, it states married by me....Royal Hospital, KIilmainham & witnessed by an M.D.

Most records of Irish soldiers were kept at Kew but not all material was transferred to Kew. Parallel but not identical records are held in the 2 repositories.  He was a Cpt. 1840 Dec (lst Yorkshire, N. Riding Regiment).

Any suggestions of what I would need to have a search done or anyone who would be going to the Nat. Archives & could have a look at these records? I am a long ways from Dublin. Many thanks to anyone who can be of help.

Roscommon / Stanleys
« on: Sunday 02 December 12 05:34 GMT (UK)  »
I have been searching for a bapt. in Athlone, Westmeath, St. Mary's C of I.
I have since learned that Athlone was a part of Roscommon to the west, St. Mary's. Westmeath was to the east,  St. Peter's.

These Stanleys were from St. Mary's C o I, Athlone. If this is the case, would records be found in Roscommon rather then Westmeath. And could these records be obtained from Roscommon or would I find them in Dublin?   Records I am interested in are from the 18th century.

Any suggestions?  Thank you.
