I'm trying to confirm the father of Robert Peary, born 1803 in Newcastle upon Tyne/Northumberland.There are two possibilities - Robert P born 1767 or,his brother, Thomas P born 1765. Obviously I need something definitive. Many thanks

I am still trying to research the Peary family, living in Callaly Mains, Parish of Whittingham, in the 18thC.

I have several key documents - wills etc - for John Peary (died 1766)his son,Thomas (died 1770) - but need lots more BMD information for the early+mid 18thC.

Several Roots Chat correspondents have indicated that the Whittingham registers pre-1760ish are either in a very poor shape or have disappeared. Before I moved to the USA I used the invaluable services of George Bell, now sadly departed. In one of his letters George referred to a microfilm version of the Whittingham BMD registers. If this does exist it may allow some further scrutiny however modest.

So, does anyone know of how I might be able to access Whittingham records for say 1700-1760 ?

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Pearey/Peary/Peery

I have been tracing my mother's family, located in the 1740's in Whittingham parish (Eglingham/Callaly). Much of the research was undertaken by the late George Bell, but we couldn't get back beyond John Peary born c 1740. If anyone has an idea how I can progress the search please let me know.

I've traced my Pearey ancestors in Eglingham and Callaly back to the 1740's (courtesy of the great work undertaken by the late George Bell), but can't find any records to take me further back.Is anyone else pursuing this family - with success ?
