I am seeking a firm date for a marriage between Jonathan STAMP and Jane (surname unknown) in or close to Ware, Hertfordshire in the 1820s up to 1831. Jonathan is born c1794. He and Jane have a daughter - Ann Maria - in c1830.

Many thanks for any assistance from those visiting Herts records offices.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Malmesbury newspaper 1875 - obit look up request
« on: Thursday 22 December 11 20:43 GMT (UK)  »
If someone has access to the local newspapers for autumn/winter 1875 (november?) and can see if there is an obituary listed for a 6 year old called Allen Hughes I would be grateful. I had a great great Uncle of this name born in late 1870 in Montgomeryshire who vanishes from all records and I have had to assume he died before the 1881 census - however there is no connection with Wiltshire so this is a wild card!
The spelling as Allen is correct although of course it may appear at Alan in an English county.
Many thanks for any light that might be shed.

Caernarvonshire / Penrhyndeudraeth Post Office

My grandfather once ran the post office on the high street and I wondered if anyone had any photographs of it from the 1930s or any history of the post office up to about 1946. His name was Robert Jones and his wife at the time was Mem (possibly for Mary).
Thanks.

Armed Forces / Military identification c1917 lancer?

This photo of my great Uncle I believe was taken early 20th century and maybe of him in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers - however I can't find any records for him. I am hoping someone who understands ranks and regiments may be able to narrow down anything about his company.

If he served in WW1 then he may not have indicated his place of birth (Llansilin). He eventually married a school teacher called Florence and lived into old age without issue.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Penygaer, Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr
« on: Sunday 07 November 10 21:17 GMT (UK)  »
Owing perhaps to lost 1861 census records I don't seem to be able to find details of who lived here at this time. Can anyone shed some light on ways to find out?

In a nutshell my great great grandfather Evan Hughes (1816 - 1895) worked the farm at Penygaer Bella and is thus recorded on all the other censuses from 41 through to 91. He married twice, both wives being called Eleanor (spelt variously as Ellen, Elinor, Ellinor, Ellin) and logically he would have been with wife number 2 in 1861 yet to have children.
He had Hugh, Catherine and Sinah as the first family and went on to have Jane, Ellen and a son who died as a child.
Eventually that Ellen married a Robert Jones and they took over the house/farm.

Any information on Evan and his family at Penygaer in the 20 years 1851 to 71 would be great - especially anything about the first three children and everyone's whereabouts in 1861.

Thanks
