Occupation Interests / Dr David Evans help
« on: Wednesday 19 January 11 14:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have a scrap album for Dr David Evans daughter Annie. I know that by March 1915 he was at 21 Linden Road, Bourneville, Birmingham ( working for Cadbury's ??). I only know this info as there was a postcard to Anniw which was re-directed to that address. The only other address is through a ships list dated 28th August 1932 for Annie. The address she is to go to is 19 Hagley Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Her father sent a marconigram saying he would collect her by car when she arrives in dock.

Really struggling to get info on this family. Annie's scrap books are amazing. They tell of 2 world cruises ( 1st class), the first in 1927 , the second in 1932. Trying to reunite these to the correct family.

Also is there any way to find out about Dr David Evans career ??

many thanks

Armed Forces / Military in Margom, Port Talbot
« on: Friday 10 September 10 09:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Could someone please point me in the direction of where to find any military batallions ect that were posted to Margam / attached to Port Talbot.

So far i can only find the volunteers who were grouped up in the late 1850's/ early 1860's who were rallied in the threat of a French invasion.

Many thanks

The Common Room / 1940's -were visiting u.s military on any lists?
« on: Friday 10 September 10 09:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Sorry for the random heading  :)

In the 1940's many injured US soldiers were in England - and put in some of the lovely old houses that were acquisitioned by HM Forces to use as re-couperation for allied troops.

I was wondering if these men would show up on any lists at all !. Really desperate to find men stationed at Margam Castle. I have put this question to the common room , as i thought that if there is an answer to this question then it may help other people with their family research to.
