« on: Monday 15 June 15 20:47 BST (UK)  »
hi all,
searching for a friend, looking for any info on thomas finn's employment,
the 1911 census shows him living in barry, he is down as a tug boat driver and a caretaker of the hibernian institute with his wife.
does anyone know of this institute? i.e. what it was, where etc. and would there be any record  anywhere of him as a tug boat driver?
thanks in advance

Armed Forces / a strange one
« on: Sunday 07 October 12 04:21 BST (UK)  »
hi all,
doing some research for a friend, she is trying to find out details on her grandfather, all she had was a name and a place in scotland. i have found him and his family but she has a family story of him in world war  II which i would like to verify or not, as the case may be.
he was born in 1898 so was in hid 40's at the time and believe he was stationed in/around/near manchester.
would a famer from scotland be in some sort of force which would require him to be so far away from home, especially given his age and occupation? if so, how would i be able to find out?
any ideas suggestions would be welcome, as i find it difficult to believe this situation would arise, but given the family circumstances ( which i wouldn't like to go into on an open forum) can find no other reason for the circumstances.
