Cavan / William Foster b about 1750 died after 1821 Drumbo, Annagelliffe Cavan
« on: Tuesday 26 May 20 23:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking for any more information on my 4th great grandfather William Foster who is in the 1821 census for Drumbo, Annagelliffe, Cavan, aged 70,  living with his daughter Mary Foster (m Richard Dancey).- (the family is actually entered under the name Darcey not Dancey as it should be). Mary Foster/Dancey head of the household, & by then a widow, was aged 41 in the census, and also had her nephew William Foster aged 10 (so born about 1810/12), living with them. Mary still seems to have been alive in 1837/39 - there is an entry for Mary Dancy in Drumbo in the 1837 or 1839 Valuation Office books, but no Fosters for that area. I'm particularly interested in tracing the nephew, William. and possibly the death of his uncle William. I have no other Foster family details. It's even possible the Fosters came from Monaghan. as my Dancey's had connections there.
Any help appreciated thanks

Hi
I'm looking for descendant records  (and descendants!) re children of Jane Dancey (possibly one orof my ancestors) and Hugh Smyth in Cavan 1833 - I have the Cavan parish marriage entry. One witness was a William Dancey - possibly her brother, the other a William Armstrong. I assume they stayed in Cavan/Ireland, but perhaps emigrated.
Jane was possibly from Drumbo townland Annagelliffe, and possibly born about  1803-1806.
I know there are quite a few Smyth's on the civil registration records from 1845 onwards but it's a needle in a haystack when I have no idea as to if they had children/names or even residence location. I have done a DNA test, so this may also help confirm ancestral links
thanks

Cavan / Stewart Corrie Chambers & Dancey/Dancy family Bailieboro
« on: Monday 23 January 17 19:27 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for the marriage record of Stewart/Stuart Corrie Chambers to Mary Dancey/Dancy (or Mary Jane Dancey) about 1839 ? in Bailieborough (Stewart Chambers lived in Baillieboro but not sure if Mary Dancey did).
Also looking for birth records of thier children, Walter Dancey/Dancy Chambers, William Dancey/Dancy Chambers & possibly others, probably in Ballieboro.
I'm trying to work out how this Chambers family links to my Dancey/Dancy family line in Co Cavan (earlier Danceys were also connected to the Corry/Corrie family of Monaghan)
thanks

Facts I know: Arthur Atkins m Sarah Robinson 1817 at Mountmellick.  Sarah Atkins, d of Arthur A & Sarah R, married Daniel Nowlan Primmer ?of Maryborough) (b E Meon Hants England) Jan 1845 at Mtmellick. Daniel was a Sgt in 11th Foot Regiment & discharged 1853. No record of death of his wife Sarah Atkins

Richard A D Primmer born to Daniel Primmer & Sarah Atkins Dec 1848 Mountmellick according to an inherited family christening mug - but no record in parish registers, & no further records relating to RAD Primmer

Martha Atkins - father Arthur Atkins -  m my direct ancestor Pockridge Dancey/Dancy/Dansey 1846 Mountmellick (Is this Martha a sister of Sarah Atkins? the christening mug above was handed down  from this direct line, so it would suggest that the Atkins/Primmer line was related)

Daniel Primmer (widower, of Maryborough) m Elizabeth Margaret Robinson (father Robert Robinson, not in Tithe Applotement or Griffiths) at Mountmellick 1860 Is this Elizabeth related to Sarah Atkins' mother Sarah Robinson?

Anyone with information/suggested sources (Roots Ireland has nothing) much appreciated. Are there still parish CoI records for Maryborough/Portlaoise?

Norfolk / John & Susannah SPRINGALL/SPRINGOLD Brancaster Parish Norfolk
« on: Saturday 29 December 12 23:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm researching my ORBELL & FIDDAMAN lines from Brancaster Parish using the FreeReg database, & have come across 3 children born to John & Susannah (or Susan) Springall/Springold that indicate that the Springalls may be connected to the ORBELLs & FIDDAMANs. (My 3x great grandmother Mary Lewis Fiddaman married Ambrose Orbell in 1810 & then moved to Brancaster in the early 1820's)

What I have found is; Robert Fiddaman SPRINGALL baptised 30 April 1820, (he must have died as an infant), Robert Fiddaman SPRINGOLD baptised 21 Oct 1821, & Mary Orbell SPRINGALL baptised 28 Oct 1832 All 3 born to John & Susan Springold/Springall. Their other children (all with surname SPRINGOLD) were:Charles baptised 22/6/1823 (probably died as an infant/young), Henry John 2/11/1825, Mary Elizabeth4/12/1825, Susan Jane 4/2/1827,  Charles 7/8/1828, Joseph 23/5/1830 & John 14/8/1831. All children born in Brancaster, Norfolk

Having checked both name variations, the only marriage for John Springall/Springold in the whole of Norfolkwas to Susan Reynolds, in 1793 in Wood Dalling parish, but this seems too early if their children were being born in Brancaster in the 1820's & early 1830's. Initially I had wondered if Susannah was in fact a Fiddaman (there was a Susannah Fiddaman b 1805 in Brancaster, & I have no record of who her spouse was), but I can find no record of her marrying John Springall. I can find no earlier Springall/Springold baptisms or infant deaths to John & Susan.

Having checked FreeReg for Norfolk parish BMD's I can come up with no more relevant information that would confirm a possible connection between this Springall/Springold family to the ORBELL & FIDDAMAN families & yet the inclusion of these surnames as middle names for two of the Springall/Springold children would seem to suggest there is a familial connection.

Can anyone help/is anyone researching Springall.Springold, Orbell & Fiddaman?
thanks

Wicklow / Ellen DANCEY/BOURNE Draper, Dunlavin Co Wicklow
« on: Sunday 10 June 12 22:27 BST (UK)  »
Looking for info on Ellen Dancey/Bourne & family. I have the following information: Ellen b 1864 in Co Cavan, (daughter of Archibald & Mary Dancey) & married John Bourne (b Co Wicklow about 1853) in Dublin in 1890.
In 1901 census living in Dunlavin as grocers/drapers, with 4 children-  Mary Louisa b about 1892, Thomas Edward b about 1893, Adelaide Martin b about 1896, & Eveleen Alice b about 1898. All children born in Co Wicklow.
In 1911 census, only Mary Louisa is living at home with Ellen & John in Dunlavin, with the information that there were 5 children born alive to the marriage, & 3 surviving. No sign of son Thomas Edward Bourne elsewhere in the 1911 census (unless mis transcribed)
Any information that would help work out the children's deaths & birth of the 5th child & any other subsequent information(did Mary Louisa marry?) death of Ellen Bourne etc,  much appreciated
thanks

Dublin / Elizabeth DANCEY/BRYAN b 1886 Dublin Inchicore
« on: Sunday 10 June 12 22:06 BST (UK)  »
Looking for details of this family post 1911 - this is what I have so far. Elizabeth daughter of Richard & Jane Catherine Dancey, married Robert Bryan (b about 1885 & son of Thomas Bryan) in 1907 at the Blackhall/Blackhill Methodidst Church.
In 1911 census they were living with Elizabeth's father in law Thomas Bryan at 71 Tyrconnell Rd (Eastside) Kilmainham, with sons Arthur K Bryan b about 1910 & Robert J Bryan b about 1908.
In 1942 Elizabeth & husband Robert were living at 3 St Georges Villas Inchicore (according to burial details of Elizabeth's brother in law Patrick Kenny). (At least I assume that Elizabeth was still alive in 1942 & living with husband Robert)

Any information especially about any possible other children of this family would be helpful
thanks

Ireland / Rev William DANCY/DANCEY b 1863 Co Cavan
« on: Tuesday 08 May 12 19:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi
This post also could probably be in Co Dublin, Derry & Tyrone.
I'm seeking info or resource info to find out more on Rev William Dancy/Danceyb 1863 in Co Cavan.
I have his parents in Co Cavan, his marriage in 1889 to Alice Elizabeth Clarke in Santry Dublin & from various directories & the 1901 census, details of his 3 children (Frances (female) EM Dancy b about 1891 in Co Derry, Ethel Alice b about 1894 in Co Derry, & Francis (male) J M Dancy b about 1898 in Co Tyrone, where the family lived in 1901)
However I can't find William, Ethel & Frances (who may have been learning disabled) in the 1911 census, having also tried wild card searches in case of mis-transcribed surnames. Ethel & Alice could have been with wider family but again don't turn up anywhere in 1911.  I have found Alice E who is living with her mother in Dublin in 1911, & son Francis at boarding school.

There is a family story that Rev William may have had mental health problems & been "retired" from the clergy (or may committed suicide?) It would seem from the 1911 census that he & Alice his wife were living separately so maybe he was in an institution.
And I haven't found a death registration for him.
Any help much appreciated

Roz
