« on: Thursday 23 June 05 18:41 BST (UK)  »
Requesting a lookup, please, in the Chesham PRs for a Daniel Adams and his only known sibling, John.  Their parents were Thomas Adams and Sarah Holt, who were married in Chesham in 1799:

If there are entries for the birth of Thomas (c1772) and Sarah Holt (c1775), those would also be very much appreciated.

Canada / Link: Online Searchable Databases
« on: Tuesday 17 May 05 18:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
Thought I would take this opportunity to feature this Link to the Canadian Genealogy Centre’s online databases.  These databases cover various aspects of the population of Canada and hosts other databases created by their partners. Each database includes a comprehensive online help page, which contains helpful information about the records, the database and how to consult the actual records.

The Canadian Genealogy Centre provides a wealth of information for researching in Canada.  It is a great resource and one that we should support.

Happy trails!

Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 Census - Brighton (Withdrawn)
« on: Tuesday 03 May 05 20:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I am resurrecting a request made last year and would very much appreciate some help in sorting out my Sayers family in Brighton in 1841 (and 1861 if it’s my lucky day!).  Chris in 1066Land had found some possible candidates in 1841, but there are questions.  Who is Mary and where are Thomas and Louisa?  Thomas may be deceased, but Louisa is found in 1851 so would hope to find her in ’41.  Here is what I do have:

In 1830, living on Edward Street, Brighton:
Sayers, Thomas, c1800, bricklayer
Sayers, Louisa, b.1801, Fletching
Children: Caroline (1823), Ann (1825), Alfred (1828), Sarah (1829), William James (1832)

On the 1851 Census, living on Marlborough Street, Brighton:
Louisa (50) is a widow, Occupation Dressmaker, living with sons Alfred (23), Painter, and William (19), French Polisher.

Here’s what Chris came up with.  Some of it fits, some doesn’t:
1841 Census HO107 1122 9 - Marlborough Street, Brighton

SAYERS Mary, 40, Laundrefs (fs for the double ss)
             Caroline, 15
             Alfred, 10
             Wm (or Jim), 5

With thanks for any assistance,
~meg

Technical Help / Member or Guest...?
« on: Friday 25 February 05 18:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
Just noticed this happening to me today: when I log in, I'm greeted with Hello, ~meg.  But when I click 'Welcome', I become a Guest. Click on 'Home', back to being a member.

Am I going through an identity crisis, or is there a glitch in the system?
