Hi all,
I am resurrecting a request made last year and would very much appreciate some help in sorting out my Sayers family in Brighton in 1841 (and 1861 if it’s my lucky day!). Chris in 1066Land had found some possible candidates in 1841, but there are questions. Who is Mary and where are Thomas and Louisa? Thomas may be deceased, but Louisa is found in 1851 so would hope to find her in ’41. Here is what I do have:
In 1830, living on Edward Street, Brighton:
Sayers, Thomas, c1800, bricklayer
Sayers, Louisa, b.1801, Fletching
Children: Caroline (1823), Ann (1825), Alfred (1828), Sarah (1829), William James (1832)
On the 1851 Census, living on Marlborough Street, Brighton:
Louisa (50) is a widow, Occupation Dressmaker, living with sons Alfred (23), Painter, and William (19), French Polisher.
Here’s what Chris came up with. Some of it fits, some doesn’t:
1841 Census HO107 1122 9 - Marlborough Street, Brighton
SAYERS Mary, 40, Laundrefs (fs for the double ss)
Caroline, 15
Alfred, 10
Wm (or Jim), 5
With thanks for any assistance,
