The Common Room / Birth certs info
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 08:42 BST (UK)  »
I have just received through the post a birth certificate. It is for my adopted sons brother, I am collecting sibling Certs for later on in his life. He is too little to understand as yet but am trying to be prepared.

I have found that there is hardly any info on it. Let me explain.

It has child's name, mums name, where born, this case was in ambulance. As a social worker registered the child they will have documentation now.  What happens in the future when, like us, others are trying to trace relatives. My son is lucky as I will leave him all I know but for others it will be a brick wall.

I know when the said child is adopted the cert differs, I.e. Name changes etc. I have not had to as yet ever look up any adoption details.

Have others found this a problem in the past

Census and Resource Discussion / Census - have address, need to find family
« on: Saturday 26 March 11 15:19 GMT (UK)  »
Don't know if this is in the right place but am sure someone will move it if it isn't. Hopefully.
I have a child Ella Agnes Cochrane death certificate. She was 4 when she died.

The Registration District is Thanet, sub district Ramsgate in Kent. Date is 1883.
Certificate says she died at 11 Camdon Road, Ramsgate.

What I am trying to find out is who the family were at this address because it was not her family that she was with. The mother, father and siblings were elsewhere at the time of her death. Although it did say her father was present at time of death and his address was 29 Sydney Road, Stockwell.

Can I find out using 1881 census who was at this address. I have a feeling she was too ill to travel and was left with her aunt and uncle. If so this would give me a lead to a relative of the guy I am chasing.

Please can anyone help.
