O.K. all you wizards please cast your magic spells and work out how I progress? I must be  a real toad as I can’t find a solution.

I am trying to locate James Pearce’s father and mother and further back if possible!

James was born in 1811 in Fulham Middlesex and lived there all his life. Can't find a birth cert for James Pearce b 1811 in Fulham!
He married Hannah b 1808 from Hampshire prior to Jan 1836 when Francis James Pearce was born.
James and Hannah had at least 5 children Francis J, Joseph, Martha Elizabeth, Dinah Margaret and James Frederick Pearce. The last being my g grandfather.
Can't find a wedding cert for James and Hannah!

Spent lots of time at London Metropolitan Archives and the FRC. No joy yet!!!
I have found baptism records for all of the children and although three were born after 1837 I can not find any birth registration information in either Ancestry.co.uk or Freebmd nor at the FRC. So I cannot order birth certificates. - The children were all born in Fulham and lived there.
I realised that Fulham wasn't a registration district until much later and Kensington would be appropriate.
They lived in Fulham all their lives and I have found them on the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census.  James died in 1856 aged 44 and Hannah died in 1876 aged 68 . James Pearce was a Tailor and Hannah a Charwoman..

Their children were:-

Francis James Pearce born  21/1/ 1836 and bap. 28/2/1836 Fulham Middx. (All Saints)
Joseph Pearce born 28/9/1837 and bap. 3/12/1837 Fulham Middx.
Martha Elizabeth Pearce born 12/7/1842 bap 5/10/1842 Fulham Middx.
Dinah Margaret Pearce born 9/10/1844 bap 17/11/1844 Fulham Middx.
James Frederick Pearce born 21/5/1848 bap 21/5/1852 Fulham Middx.

Dinah appeared to call herself Margaret after 30 but then I believe she married and I don’t know her married name!

This is the info. I found on the 1841 census :-

James Pearce 30 tailor born in county
Hannah " 34 not born in county - born Hampshire
Francis James Pearce 5 born in county
Joseph Pearce 3 "
living at Bridge Street, Fulham, Kensington, Middlesex
H0107/ 689/ 11
Folio 44, Page 35

All  help/suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Mark

Hi,
Can anyone help please? I am trying to find my gg grandmother and indeed her family. According to the censuses she was a Hannah Pearce having married my gg grandfather James Pearce a Tailor in Fulham Middlesex. I know she was born in 1808 and was a charwoman born I believe in Burclere Hants. This is spelt differently in every census but I guess it may be Burghclere Hampshire.  Can't find them in 1841 census. I know James and Hannah had at least 5 children Francis J, Joseph, Martha, Dinah and James Frederick Pearce. The last being my g grandfather. I believe James and Hannah were married prior to 1836 the birth of Francis. Can't find a wedding cert for James and Hannah. Can't find a birth cert for James Pearce b 1811 in Fulham. They could have married in Hampshire I suppose but would need to visit Andover Archives I expect.
Can anyone throw any light on who she was and who her family were?
All help really appreciated.
Many thanks,

Mark

Lincolnshire / Can anyone help please? - Marshall & Militia
« on: Sunday 03 April 05 13:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi folks, posted this on Military site but no response so I thought maybe Lincolnshire more fruitful? I am attempting to attach a photo of one of my relatives from many years ago. This photo belongs to my mother and is one of her Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire family from about 1880.
I believe his name was Marshall or Lamb and either came from Belchford - Horncastle way or was from Clayworth -Gainsborough area.
I think the uniform is Militia but I am not sure. I think the gun is either a match or flintlock. The cap badge is visible but not distinct. It may have 45 on it?
The uniform "looks" like American civil war but I doubt it is due to the date.
Any ideas as I have approached several enthusiasts without much luck.
All assistance will be gratefully accepted on gun, cap badge or uniform.
Many many thanks,

Mark
