Glamorganshire / Mary Irene Williams b abt 1865 Glamorgan
« on: Friday 05 February 21 14:44 GMT (UK)  »
I am struggling to find the birth and the parents of Mary Irene Williams who married William Hill Underwood in West Derby, Liverpool in 1888. In the marriage record it states that she was 23 years old and that her father was Isaac Williams who was an engineer and nothing else. In the 1891 census it indicates that she was born in Penarth, Wales. Mary Irene died in Marylebone, London in 1938 but in her death record it does not give the names of her parents only the informant who was her son James. Can anybody help me?

Angus (Forfarshire) / Rosehill Cemetery, Montrose
« on: Tuesday 27 August 19 18:15 BST (UK)  »
I have found a gravestone erected by an ancestor of mine in Rosehill Cemetery, Montrose. Unfortunately the bottom half of the gravestone has broken off. The remaining part of the gravestone states:-
“Erected by David Wallace, Rosehill in memory of David Grant, his grandchild who died 31 Jul 1863 aged 6 years and 5 months and Mary Ann Rae who died 2 Dec 1863 aged 5 Months. Also James Rae who died 19th Feb 1868 aged 6 months. Also Thomas Wright Rae who died 8th March 1872 aged 9 weeks and of John Wright Rae who died 26 Jan 1874 aged 7 1/2 months………………..”.
I would love to find out what the bottom half stated but have been unable to find mention of the gravestone in the Rosehill Monumental Inscriptions books. Can anybody help me?

Roxburghshire / John March & Jane Pott, Hawick
« on: Monday 18 February 19 19:27 GMT (UK)  »
I have been struggling to find out what happened to John March and Jane Pott(s) who married on 20 Sep 1852 in Hawick. John was probably born c1833 in Edinburgh and Jane born c1831 in Hawick. As far as I have ascertained the couple had 2 children; John born c1854 and George born 19 Nov 1855, both in Hawick.  So John & Jane were still alive and living in Hawick when statutory registration was introduced. Where and when they died is a mystery. Can anyone help me?

« on: Sunday 08 April 18 14:02 BST (UK)  »
For many years I have used the Church of the Latter Day Saints PAF 5.2 program for storing my family tree information. Sadly it is no longer serviced by FamilySearch. Has anyone tried using it with Windows 10?

Durham / Agnes Brown b c1837
« on: Thursday 11 August 16 11:31 BST (UK)  »
I have found an Agnes Brown aged 22 living as a boarder in John Street, Hartlepool in 1861 Census that interests me. She bears a striking resemblance to Agnes Brown who was born in Alnwick, Northumberland in c1837 to my ggg grandfather Adam Brown and Eleanor Longstaff. In an attempt to check this out, I looked for a marriage for an Agnes Brown in Hartlepool and the only one I could find was in Sep 1877 to either James Malley or George Morris. Can anyone help me go further?

Lincolnshire / Bella Campbell b 1876
« on: Tuesday 09 August 16 17:43 BST (UK)  »
I found the following family living at 114 Wood Street, Grimsby in the 1901 Census that interests me very much.
Name                    Relation   Age     Occupation    Where born
Bella Campbell       Boarder   24       Housekeeper  Scotland
William F Campbell Son          4                            Scotland
Harry F Campbell   Son           3                            Lincs, Grimsby
The family bears a striking resemblance to that of a Bella Ann Eliza Campbell b 1876 Durris, Kincardineshire who gave birth to an illegitimate child named William Campbell in 1896 also in Durris, Kincardineshire. Geographically, Durris is located on the outskirts of Aberdeen which used to have strong links with Grimsby through fishing. Sadly I believe Bella may have died in 1907 but not in Scotland. Can anyone help me find out what happened to this family?
