Berwickshire / Playfair/Mitchell/McDougall of Eccles, Berwickshire
« on: Monday 14 April 14 22:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching the Playfair/Mitchel/McDougall families who lived in Eccles, Berwickshire, Scotland in the 19th century. My earliest record is off a marriage between James Playfair and Jean Mitchel in 1818. One of their daughters Jean (b 1830) married Henry McDougall in June 1865.

Fermanagh / Brown/Lucy connection in Moybrone area
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 13:24 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching my wife’s family. Her grandfather, William Brown(e) is said to have come from the Moybrone/Mullaghdun area before going to Belfast to seek employment as a clerk, where he married around 1900. As the 1901 census do not contain such a family in the area it is possible the family moved with him. William was also thought to have a George Lucy connection. Any guidance would be very much appreciates

Antrim / Playfairs in the 1800s

I am researching my Playfair connections. William Alexander Playfair, son of James, married in Co Tipperary in 1869 and lived in Co Cork until his death from TB 10 years later. Having got nowhere with my research in Co Cork, and Playfair being mainly a Co Antrim based name at that time I was wondering if any ‘reader’ had any ideas, or, even better, connections with these folk?

Cork / Playfairs of Ballybrack/Glenville 1860/70
« on: Saturday 05 February 11 21:20 GMT (UK)  »

Hi
I was wondering if anyone could help. In the late 1860s, after marriage in Kilcoley, Co Tipperary, an Annie Elizabeth Switzer and a William Alexander Playfair lived in Ballybrack, Glenville, Co Cork until he died from TB some 10 years later. WA’s father James may have been a farmer or worked for the ‘big house’. Despite much digging I can not find any connection with other ‘Irish’ Playfair family of the time. Would anyone, anywhere, have even the smallest piece of information which may help me over come this brick wall.

Tipperary / Annie Elizabeth Switzer

Hi

I was wondering if any kind person could provide some information on Elizabeth Switzer who was a daughter of John and Margaret (nee Henderson) m1837 – John was the son of Nathaniel and Ann (nee Teskey) Switzer – of New Park, Co Tipperary.
Annie E married William Alexander Playfair in 1869 and they had 6 children, all born at Ballybrack, Glenville, Co Cork. After William A died in 1878/9 she married a Captain Donald Henderson in Glasgow, which is a long way from Glenville! The information I am seeking is

1/ Annie E date of birth

2/ As both her mother and second husband were ‘Hendersons’ does anyone know of a family connection?

3/ Anyone any knowledge of William P's earlier life as  I have hit the ‘brick wall’ in this line of  research.
