US Lookup Requests / 1890 census
« on: Monday 22 October 12 11:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I'm wondering if someone with access to the 1890 US census might kindly oblige me by looking up the 1890 census for a THOMAS ARMSTRONG in Hudson, South Dakota.      Just to complicate things, I believe there are 2 Hudsons in SD.

Thomas was born in England near Carlisle in Cumberland in 1867 and moved to Middlesbrough.   He was in the 1881 M'bro census, but then vanished.    Only recently I stumbled across a newspaper cutting of his death notice in M'bro in 1899 which stated that he had lived in Hudson, but he obviously returned home.

Fingers crossed,

           Gordon.

US Lookup Requests / South Dakota 1890 census
« on: Friday 01 June 12 12:38 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

Just a shot in the dark, but if anyone has access to the 1890 US Census, I'm trying to find details for Thomas Armstrong who I believe was living in or around the town of Hudson, South Dakota at that time.

He was born in England in 1867, was in Middlesbrough in 1881, but 'vanished' before he returned to England where he died in 1899.  Eventually traced the death notice in the local newspaper, which states he was 'late of Hudson, South Dakota'.

Any info much appreciated,

       Gordon.

US Lookup Requests / 1890 census problem
« on: Tuesday 21 February 12 14:26 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking info on a Thomas Armstrong, born Carlisle England in 1867, moved to Middlesbrough, England by 1881, then appeared to vanish.  However have now come across his death back in Middlesbrough in 1899 - in between he was apparently in Hudson, South Dakota.
The US 1890 census could have answered many questions had it not been wiped out by fire and flood.   Anyone any ideas how I could proceed from here?

Many thanks,

      Gordon.

US Lookup Requests / 1920 census (new jersey)
« on: Monday 22 February 10 19:35 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if someone might have access to the 1920 US census and could give me some information on the following lady and her household.

ROSE CARSTENS   believe in the Hudson area of NJ in 1920.  Born 1890/91 in London - arrived in US from Bremen in Germany in 1912.   That's about as much as I have.

Thanks in advance to any kind person who replies.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Unfilmed Manchester 1851
« on: Saturday 06 May 06 19:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I have a family who I find in Brick Croft, Pendleton in 1841, and in Timothy Street, Barton in 1861; yet in 1851 - zilch!!  I guess they must be among the missing entries.  I'm wondering if there's anyone out there with access to some of these missing census returns.

Just in case, the family are:  William Lamb (b Cheshire 1805-ish) a gardener; wife Jane (b Chesterfield, Derbyshire 1798-ish); and several children born from 1829 onwards (only 'distinctive' one is Elizabeth Vickers Lamb).

Hoping someone just might be able to find them for me.  Thank you in advance,

Gordon.

Yorkshire (North Riding) Lookup Requests / Eston MI's
« on: Saturday 06 May 06 18:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I think it was Mike offering look-ups for Eston MI's.

I have 'lost' a couple of our Denney family - in particular Edward Denney who died ca 1860 aged about 43.   I believed he was buried at Christ Church, but on visiting there it looks like it's all been built up over the graveyard and the manse was eerily deserted.

Many thanks,

Gordon.

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Coleraine Library
« on: Saturday 06 May 06 17:47 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am wondering if any Rootschat members will be visiting Coleraine Library in the near future?  I understand thanks to the hard work of the Coleraine branch of the NI FHS, they have reposited there copies of the Church Records for certain areas.

I am seeking any info on Daniel Shaw & wife Margaret McPeake from the Buckna/Glenwhirry church parishes in the Ballymena area of ANTRIM (born ca 1840, married ca 1865, with various children up to 1881).

Another line of my family is from Magherafelt in Co LONDONDERRY - Hector (or Hercules) Douglas, b ca 1837, to parents Hugh and Sarah (nee Wylie), who married Elizabeth Stewart (b 1854) in 1877.  If anyone stumbles across either family and can help add a wee piece to the jigsaw I'd be very grateful.

Thank you in advance,

Gordon

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / John-Eleanor Keast
« on: Tuesday 21 February 06 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hello:  Trying to find the marriage of John Keast to a lady called Eleanor in either St Germans or Landrake 1811-1818.

Have strong suspicion she is Eleanor Littleton, but no proof;  anything to connect would be gratefully received, thank you.

I'm wondering if there is any reference to the BMDs of Eleanor and John Keast of St Germans (Eleanor possibly born Landrake 1791-95). John's birth is ca 1787-91. I am also seeking the birth date of their son Samuel ca 1829-31.  Many thanks.
