Armagh / Owen Hughes Family
« on: Thursday 23 April 15 17:23 BST (UK)  »
Looking for information on Owen Hughes who married Mary McCoy abt. 1840. Owen born abt. 1820. They had 4 children, Mary, Patrick, John and my gg grandmother Annie Ellen. She came to America abt. 1873 and settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a house maid.  The family were from the area around (sp) Annahalia Townland, Killvery Parish, County Amaugh. I know there is a cemetery in the area where other Hughes are buried, but I have no idea who they are in relation to my family. The Hughes were Catholic. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thank you

Down / ROGAN of County Down
« on: Tuesday 15 February 11 17:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for my G Grandfather James Rogan from County Down. There isn't much information that I can give other than he immigrated to America in 1870 and went to Pittsburgh to live. There he met Ann Hughes from Armagh and married, raising 6 children one of which was my grandmother Rose. James had 2 brothers that I know of, Patrick, born Nov 1858 and Michael. I do not know his birth date. The parents of James were Patrick Rogan and Kati Smith. Kati is what the family in Pittsburgh has written to me, but her name could be Katherine/Catherine. Kati was born in County Down in 1824 and Patrick in 1822. The family is Catholic so the children must have been baptised. Not sure if there was a brith registration for the children. Any help that you can give will be greatly appreciated. I am hoping that I can trace the family a little farther back in time.

Thank you

Armagh / HUGHES from Annahaia, Killevy
« on: Monday 14 February 11 22:39 GMT (UK)  »
First, thanks for a great site and keeping it orderly. I have learned much form just browsing. Now for some help!
I am looking for information concerning a Owen Hughes, my GG Grandfather. I have found out that he paid the Tithe in the Townland of Anahay (Annahaia) Killevy Parish in 1835. I am thinking that this is where he lived and raised his family of 13. My GG Grandmother Ann is listed in the Lower Killevy R C Church baptisms 1835 - 1900 to a Ownn Hughes and Mary McCoy. There are two Hughes listed and only one is a Hughes/McCoy family, so that makes me pretty sure that this is my family.  Also, three other children are listed, Patrick, Mary and Ellen Hughes who are on the baptism records. A John Hughes who is one of the children, is not. He immigrated to America before Ann did.  Is there any way to find out who the rest of the childen are? Are there any records etc. of Owen Hughes or Mary McCoy's parents?
I have seen what the site members can do in searching and I hope that my family is not to obscure for help. Once again, thank you for a great site and I do appreciate any help that you can give. I would hope I could return the favor. I am attaching the only picture I have of Ann Hughes

Thank you
