Monmouthshire / William Charles Morgan
« on: Saturday 01 September 18 14:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi there

I am looking for any help anyone can give me in tracing any details about a William Charles Morgan. I believe he was born in 1915 in Newport Monmouthshire.  I believe he died in 1988 in the same area. We also think he was a cook in WW2.

Any help in filling in the blanks and confirming these details would be amazing.

Thanks
Darren

Lincolnshire / Fight in The Kings Head pub in Caistor
« on: Sunday 04 November 07 09:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I am researching my Markham family history and would like to know about a pub called The Kings Head in Caistor (see newspaper article below).  A relative of mine, Philip Markham, was killed in a fight in this establishmnet in January 1855.  Is the pub still standing?  Does anyone have any historical details on the pub?  In particular looking for a feel for what sort fo place it would have been in 1855 and any photos.

Many thanks
Darren

LINCOLNSHIRE CHRONICLE
January 12th 1855
CAISTOR - On Saturday night, the 6th inst., Philip Markham and William Brumpton of
Grasby with several others were drinking together at the house of William Hartley, The Kings Head, Caistor, where Markham and Brumpton quarrelled and went in to the yard to fight when it appears Brumpton struck Markham a blow upon the head and Markham fell down and almost immediately expired. An Inquest was held over the body at the 8th inst. before Mr G Marris, coroner, when a verdict of Manslaughter was returned and William Brumpton was fully committed to take his trial at the next Assizes.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Any ideas on dates for these two?
« on: Thursday 22 March 07 12:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I have two photos I would PLEASE like to have dated if possible.

The first is a wedding photo which I would like to kno what year approximately - it was taken in Perth, Western Australia if that helps at all?

The seocnd I believe is the bride in the first photo later in life, but I don't know for sure... I know it's not great in quality but any thoughts on whether it is the same person, how old they might be and date of photo.  If it isn't the same woman then I am thinking it might be the man in the photo's mother.

HELP!

Thanks

Dorset Completed Look up Requests / 1861 Census Lookup
« on: Wednesday 07 February 07 23:44 GMT (UK)  »
This is a bit of a long shot - but nothing ventured and all that.

An ancestor of mine was sentenced to manslaugher and transported to Australia I was hoping to find him on the 1861 Census at Portland Gaol.  I know the ship (Lincelles) he arrived in Perth, Australia on, left Portland on the 5th October 1861 (ie after the 1861 Census was recorded) and I am ASSUMING he would have been in the Portland gaol waiting his transportation.  The name of the person I am looking for is:

Wiliam Markham, born Grasby, Lincolnshire in October 1835.

Any help gratefully received.

Many  thanks

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / 1851 Census Look up
« on: Wednesday 07 February 07 23:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Could someone PLEASE look up a John Washington JEX for me in the 1851 census.  I know he was working as a gamekeeper in 1858 in the parish of Bishop Burton in East Riding (working for a Richard Watt who lived at "Old Hall").  I don't know how old he was or his family situation but I am hoping this is enough information for someone to help me.

MANY thanks

Australia / WA Wills
« on: Friday 26 January 07 10:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

The majority of my research has been conducted using UK records, but I have recently found an Australian branch to my family and I don't know too much about Aus' records.  Is there any way I can get a hold of a copy of a relatives Will from the time of his death in Perth in 1902?

Thanks for any assistance that can be offered

Regards

Hi 'nuttyone'

Hopefully I have posted this in the correct place; based on your kind offer in the Lincolnshire lookup offers section.

I was hoping to find out what existed in these directories for my Markham ancestors living in Grasby at this time; and what they were doing.

All the best and many THANKS.

Hi

Does anyone have access to the Sands Directoreis for Sydney - any from 1912 onwards would be great - who would be KIND enough to look up who lived in the following house PLEASE?  The house is 23 Treatts Road, Lindfield and it was built about 1912, and I wanted to know who the previous occupants were.

MANY THANKS
