Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / McIntyre- Holy Isle(off Arran)
« on: Sunday 16 May 21 20:03 BST (UK)  »
This is My Grgr grandfather John McIntyre at his home on the Holy Isle off of Arran. I have had the original scanned and redone. I am curious as to who the others are in the picture. I believe the young women seated on the right are his daughters. If I am correct the gentleman next to him may be a boarder that lived there. I suspect that it dates to late 1880s early 1890s.

Buteshire / Anne W Hamilton( McIntyre) and Janet Taylor Jack (McIntyre) Arran

My uncle who passed away last year had many pictures that had been sent from Scotland to Family here in Canada. The above 2 ladies were my gr aunts. I have loads of pics they took and they had the foresight to write on the back of them.
Annes husband was Guy Hamilton and Jennys husband James Jack. What I am hoping to do is contact their children and such.
What I am looking for is their gravestones as I know nothing of their deaths. I know they lived up at Cairndhu cottage in Auchencairn above whiting bay. Does anyone know where the graveyard listings are for Arran.

My 4x gr grandparents lived at the aforementioned in the 1830-1845 approx. Were there records kept of residents. They were James and Catherine McIntyre as he was a shepherd and lived in one of the cottages there. It showed up in the 1841 census. Nothing more than curiosity as it such a pretty area I just decided to see what I could find out.

Argyllshire / McIntyre: Dunoon and Kilmun/greenock
« on: Saturday 22 April 17 04:36 BST (UK)  »
Hmm seems I run into some connections there but there were quite a few families in the region. My gr gr grandfather John who lived on the Holy isle of of Arran lived at Toward Point with his parent James and Catherine according to the 1841 census likely in one of the cottages. In Greenock, I found one of his brothers, Duncan who was a Iron ship builder according to a marriage record.

Denbighshire / Roberts family
« on: Saturday 26 November 16 05:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. Got delving into my gr  grandmothers side of  things. Her name was Katharine E Roberts Born likely in Wimbledon, England 1872 approx as I have her christening date I discovered once I found I had the wrong birth year quite a bit more.  :) Her fathers name was Maurice Roberts. He was born in 1841 approx in Denbigh. Once I got looking I realized this appears to be an old family in the region as Flintshire comes up also. His parents names were Robert Roberts and Matilda. Just was curious if anyone may be familiar with them.
She became a nurse and served in Malta as I believe it was a treatment point for returning soldiers from the Boer war. My gr grandfather(William E Higgett) was serving with the Lancashire Fusilliers in Malta at the time.

If anyone is researching this line from Arran, their son William, B 1908 died here in Canada in 1959. It was thought by family members he was my grandfathers brother but was only a cousin in actuality. He is buried in Tompkins SK where he worked on both the Mckenzie ranch and my grandfathers ranch. If you want a pic of the gravestone, let me know and i can send it to you.

US Lookup Requests / Marcus Delafayette Smith

Looking to figure out a bit of a mystery. My gr grandfather above either died in 1961 or as I believe 1916. my gr grandmother Rose, remarried in the 1930s in Tompkins Saskatchewan. They were both from Seneca in Crawford county in Wisconsin. I have seen other research that indicates he died in Multonomah county in Oregon also but nobody seems to know either way. The record I saw was from family search and it is the only record that says 1916. I have looked to see if there was a military record or not and no luck. He may be listed as Mark Smith. I cannot dismiss the Oregon info simply because there were family who lived there.

Thank you in advance

Marc
