Renfrewshire / Scanlon family of Renfrewshire
« on: Thursday 16 January 14 13:53 GMT (UK)  »
The Scot census of 1841 indicates a Helen Scanlon (60) living with (presumably) her daughters Hannah (40), Sarah (22) and Helen, (15).  They are Irish-born, residing in Grahamston, Neilston, Scotland in 1841.  I know that the daughter Sarah married my great grandfather, Arthur Davidson, in 1849.  But I have no clue about her mother and her siblings.  I will be grateful to learn if anyone has a connection or advice as to the mother and siblings.  Many thanks.  George

Ireland / Thomas and Julia Kelly, born about 1831
« on: Thursday 14 July 11 14:19 BST (UK)  »
Seeking information – any leads – on a Thomas and Julia Kelly, my great great grandparents.  Born about 1831 in Ireland, they were in England about 1854 where their two eldest daughters (Mary Letitia and Theresa) were born.  The family then immigrated to New York some time before 1861 where three more daughters (Julia 1861, Josephine 1863 and Caroline 1865) were born.  I’d be grateful for any information, particularly as to their parents and siblings.  Thanks.

Mayo / Thomas and Julia (McCormick) O’Malley
« on: Thursday 19 May 11 14:10 BST (UK)  »
I’m hoping to uncover another ancestral generation and will very much appreciate any assistance on the following.  Thomas and Julia (McCormick) O’Malley are my 3x great grandparents.

According to his DC, Thomas O’Malley (Malley) (1817-1861) was the Mayo-born son of Thomas and Ann (?) (McCormack) Malley.  He died in Jedburgh Scotland, Dec 28, 1861.  Can anyone provide guidance or information on his siblings or parents?

According to her DC, his wife Julia McCormick (1827-1870) was also born in Mayo and she was the daughter of James and Helen (Reilly) McCormick.  Julia died in Eckford, Scotland, Jan 25, 1870.  As with Thomas, can anyone provide guidance or information on her siblings or parents?

Thanks!

James J. Coleman was my Great Grandfather – born in Ireland June 1862, reportedly in Mayo.  Is said to have immigrated with his Mother Bridget about 1872 and they settled in the coal mine region of Avoca, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.  He died Feb 9, 1934.  I’d be grateful if anyone can provide information or guidance on his hometown, parents or siblings.  Thanks.

Mayo / Tuffy and Holmes families of Mayo and Sligo
« on: Tuesday 05 April 11 20:28 BST (UK)  »
We’d be grateful for any information or guidance on our Great Great Grandparents.  William Tuffy (b. ~1817, Sligo, Castleconnor) married Catherine Holmes (b, ~1833, Mayo, Dooleeg More), reportedly around 1845.  Their eldest daughter, Bridget, was born around 1847 in Ireland.  The family then immigrated to Pittston PA in the US and they had another seven children.  Can anyone provide information on the parents or siblings of William Tuffy and Catherine Holmes?  Thanks.  George

Renfrewshire / Davidsons of Renfrewshire/Lanarkshire
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 13:07 GMT (UK)  »
We’d be very grateful if someone can provide guidance or information on the Davidson family of 1850-1860 Renfrewshire/Lanarkshire.  Our great great grandparents, Arthur and Sarah (Scanlon?) Davidson, were living in Nutshill Renfrewshire in 1851 with their new-born son John.  The parents had each been born in Ireland, Arthur abt 1826 and Sarah abt 1820.  By the time of the 1861 census, they were living at 220 New Dalmarock Rd in Bridgeton Lanarkshire.  The family immigrated to the US and, by 1870, were settled in the coal-mining regions of Pennsylvania.  We are hoping to find the parents or siblings of Arthur Davidson (b. 1826) or Sarah (Scanlon?) Davidson (b. 1820).  Thanks!
