Lancashire / Checking a Liverpool R.C. marriage (November 1913)
« on: Sunday 08 January 17 15:35 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if it is possible to do a 'simple' check of a marriage in a Liverpool R.C. church (Wavertree) dating from November 1913, please? I have found a searchable with transcript details of Liverpool R.C. marriages up to 1901 but there is nothing to indicate where to look for anything after that time:
http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/liverpoolrcmarriages/

The church where the marriage took place, so far as I know, was called "Our Lady's" at Wavertree. Would this be "Our Lady of Good Help" or would there have been another Catholic church in the district with a similar name?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise.

South Africa / Finding a grave location in South Africa (1970 death)

Andrew Belton (b. Cleator Moor, 17/04/1882; d. Cape Town South Africa, 02/09/1970)

Can a forum member in South Africa, or access to the relevant records, be able to do a "look up" for the place of burial for someone who died in South Africa in 1970, please? This person's name is Andrew Belton, born at Cleator Moor, Cumberland (G.B.), April 1882 and sometimes referred to as 'Kaid'.

Could there have been an obituary in a South African newspaper at the time of his death or possibly it is traceable in the South African National Archives?  As he was baptised a Roman Catholic his funeral and burial may have been made through a Catholic church in Cape Town.

(I posted an earlier request about two of Andrew's elder brothers who died in South Africa around the time of the Boer War for a local history research query. The date of  Andrew Belton's death comes from what has been written in the registers of his home parish in Cumberland.

This post is made to assist one of Andrew's relatives who is not sure how to begin a thread on the forum but would like to trace his place of burial if that is possible).

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Cumberland / Hogarth / Ritson marriage (1862)
« on: Saturday 08 February 14 15:47 GMT (UK)  »
Re: Hogarth / Ritson marriage (1862)

If possible, can anyone do a look-up of the following marriage in the Cockermouth registration district, Cumberland (possibly at either Brigham or Great Broughton) in the June Qtr. of 1862:

James Hogarth to Margaret Ritson.

The parents of James Hogarth, the bridegroom, were John Hogarth and Catherine Hogarth (formerly Moffat). He was born at Bolton Low Houses (Caldbeck sub-district) of Wigton on 13 September 1838.

At this stage, I would be more interested in tracing the forebears, birth location and district of abode of the bride, Margaret.

In the 1860s the family resided at Harker Marsh, Little Broughton.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist with this request.

Isabella (Bella) Baudot (nee Tyrell) [c.1854 - 1884]

Would anyone please be able to assist with information on the marriage and / or death & burial of Isabella Baudot (nee Tyrell) [c.1854 - 1884]?

Parents: Edward Tyrell and Honora Tyrell (nee Foley)
Abode / Place of death: Richmond / Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Spouse: Edouard (Edward) Baudot (de Rouville), born Paris, France.

If possible, would anyone living in Victoria be able to trace the cause of death, where Bella may be buried and if there is a memorial headstone please?

Thanks in advance if anyone can assist with this enquiry.

Tipperary / Newport Catholic Parish Registers - WALTERS
« on: Thursday 11 July 13 21:25 BST (UK)  »
Walters / Crowe family, Ballykinlalee, Newport, Co. Tipperary.

Please can anyone assist with 'look-ups' in the Newport Catholic parish registers for the Walters family, farmers, who owned a farm at Ballykinlalee (Killoscully, Tipperary)?

In particular, would anyone be able to assist by looking up the baptisms of the following children of a Walters / Crowe marriage:

John Walters (born c. 1861)

Susan Walters (born c. 1862)

Bedelia Walters (born c. 1869)

Kate Walters (born c. 1870)

Joseph Walters (born c. 1872)

Looking at the birth dates, there may be other siblings I am currently unaware of at this stage. Nor, at the moment do I have the first names of their parents. In the mid-1880s Susan was living near Melbourne, Australia with her uncle John Crowe (who had land and property there). Susan Walters married in Australia. .

Would anyone know if the parents and possibly other members of the family are interred in a Co. Tipperary churchyard please?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist with this line of research!

Cumberland / Dent / Telford marriage (Cockermouth district 1909)
« on: Saturday 27 October 12 16:20 BST (UK)  »
If possible, please does anyone have the details of the following:

(a) where the following marriage took place,
and / or
(b) where the bride and groom may have lived immediately afterwards?

Cockermouth Reg. District (Dec 1909 Qtr)

Bridegroom: John Porter DENT
Bride: Jessie TELFORD

Jessie Telford would have been 22 years old at the time. My understanding is that they may have been living in the Keswick / Portinscale area. If this could they have been married at Crosthwaite Parish Church, possibly by Canon Rawnsley?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist.

If possible can anyone assist with a look-up for any burial / death details for:

William Henry Hancock
Died: Liskeard Reg. Dist. (Mar. Qtr. 1847) [/b]

If this is the William Henry Hancock who was one of my ancestors he belonged to the Church of England and was a confectioner. he would have been in his late 40s. Another possibility is that this was a son of the said William Henry, or even another relative so any information may well assist build up the 'bigger picture'.

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to assist.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / HALL / PROUSE families (Sancreed, Cornwall)
« on: Sunday 30 September 12 12:48 BST (UK)  »
Please can anyone assist with look-ups for the following:

(a) Thomas Hall / Jane Prouse marriage
(Penzance Reg. Dist., 1859 Dec. Qtr.)

Thomas Hall, tin miner (born c. 1839)
Jane Prouse (born c. 1839)

(b) Baptism details of the children I am aware of born to Thomas and Jane Hall
(All born St Creed, Cornwall)

James Thomas Hall (born c. 1860)
William Charles Hall (born c. 1862)
Richard Hall (born c. 1865)
Mary Jane Hall (born c. 1867)
Philadelphia Hall (born c. 1869)
John M. Hall (born c. 1871)

So far as I am aware the family belonged to the Church of England, in which case the marriage / baptisms likely took place at Sancreed Parish Church. There was a strong musical tradition in the family so I have wondered if they may have been Non-Conformists at some time.

I have looked at the links provided elsewhere on this site for the 1861 and 1871 census details for this family. Thanks very much for providing this information.

Also, thanks in advance to anyone who can assist with the look-ups.

Could I please ask if anyone can assist with a 'look-up' for the following marriage:

James Parker and Mary Ellen Senior, Batley (Dewsbury Reg. District)
Date: 1872 (Jan - Mar Qtr)

My guess is that the wedding would have been either at Batley Parish Church (Chuch of England) or the Catholic Church (St Mary's) which I believe had recently been built at that time.

Additional information:
James Parker, born c. 1847, was the son of Matthew Parker, Wool manufacturer, and Hannah Parker (nee Jubb).
Occupation: Wool manufacturer
I believe one of his brothers, Joseph J. Parker, became Mayor of Batley at some point.  Possibly Joseph Parker stood as Best Man for his brother James?
Matthew Parker died in December 1847

Mary Ellen Senior, born c. 1848, was the daughter of  Jacob Senior, Wool / textile merchant ('Shoddy')l and Ann Senior (nee Armitage).

The children of James and Mary Ellen Parker I am aware of are:

Elisabeth, born c. 1873
Amy, born c. 1874
Clifford, born c. 1881

Would anyone be able to look up baptism records for the children, please?
I imagine this would have been at the same church where James and Mary Ellen married.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can assist.
