Scotland / Census Question

I'm searching the 1871 census and just came across something strange...
this is how the census reads -
Margaret Cumming 34
William Cumming 6
Duncan Cumming 12
Sarah Cumming 3
Mary Peterson 24
Jane McCurtnie 9
Jane McCurtnie is listed as a servant... She is 9... Would this just mean that she is the servants (Mary Peterson's) daughter??

Hey all...
I'm looking for an uncle that i have never met... My father hasn't seen his brother for over 26yrs (probably alot longer)... And i would like to know if he is still living or any info so i can add it to the tree...
Because I dont know if he is still living, i'm not sure if i can post details, so i wont... But any info as to where to start looking would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi all...
I'm new to this site, and am a little lost...
I'm researching my mother and fathers side of the family, but cant get very far on my fathers side... As i'm in Australia it is very hard to track a scottish based family tree...
If anybody has any info on CUMMING (no 'S'), WATT, CAMPBELL, LAMB... I am more then willing to share what i have...
Or if anyone can suggest what kind of info to post and where would be just as helpful...
