Bedfordshire / Bitcheners /Bicheners of Kempston After 1700
« on: Tuesday 06 August 19 02:03 BST (UK)  »
I'm wondering if anyone on the Bedfordshire Board has the Kempston Parish records for Kempston from 1680 through to 1780. (All records would be for Kempston.)

I know there is sometimes a notation in the record of the occupation of an individual and that's what I'm seeking. I'm satisfied that I have accurate information for births and deaths for the following individuals. With the exception of the William named as 2, I don't have any idea of what they did for a living before the family moved to Cranfield in the late 1700's and became agricultural laborers.
1. Richard Bicheno married Anne Church at Hardmead. He was born in 1670. Probably died K.
2. Son William Bitchenor, born Kempston 1695 (a tailor) married Constance Houghton died 1746 K
3. William Bichener their son born in 1720 at Kempston married Elizabeth Ingram died 1759 K
4. William Bichener their son born in 1748 at Kempston married Sarah Ambridge died 1836 K
5. John Bichener their son born in 1788 at Kempston married Mary Bennett died 1858 Cranfield .
Any help with occupations of any of the above would be much appreciated.

Bedfordshire / John Flute Burried Marston Mortaine 1825
« on: Sunday 20 April 14 01:07 BST (UK)  »
I'm having some difficulty finding the birth record and parents for a John Flute buried at Marston Mortaine in 1825, or his marriage. In all likelihood he was born in Marston Mortaine.

He may or may not have a brother called James Flute who was born in MM and moved to Astwood who had a father in Marston Mortaine, Isaac Flude.

I came across the 1825 death record for John.

Thanks!

Essex / Henry Cook's Wife Elizabeth Born Saffron Walden 1832
« on: Thursday 17 April 14 21:07 BST (UK)  »
I've been looking for the marriage that took place between the father of Walter James Cook, Henry Cook born in Bassingbourn in 1831 and an Elizabeth who was born in Saffron Walden in 1832. They raised their family in Royston where Henry was a baker.

Thanks in advance for help on this one. I have census entries on them both moving forward in Royston and Therfield.

Essex / Walter Henry James Cook Born Saffron Walden 1881
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 19:40 BST (UK)  »
I found the birth record for Walter Henry James Cook registered in Saffron Walden, September 1881. On his 1911 census entry his actual birth reads as Newport, Essex 6 miles outside the town. I would like to find out the details of his father and mother but I've drawn a blank in terms of tracing him in census records until he shows up as age 29 in 1911 when he is living in Hoddesden.

His family may have moved over the county border into Hertfordshire since he married an Emily Muscer born 1880 in Ware.

Thanks for any help. The name of his father and mother would be really useful and his whereabouts in 1891.

Buckinghamshire / Newport Pagnell Workhouse Records 1850's
« on: Wednesday 16 April 14 00:11 BST (UK)  »
I've located an ancestor of mine on the 1851 census where she is living in the Newport Pagnell Workhouse. In the 1861 census she's back in her original village of Astwood. I want to know how long she stayed in the workhouse. I'm fairly sure she was still there in 1853. Is there a site to can go to (link) where it would give me that information or is it only possible to get a snapshot from the census records?

Thanks for any help.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Women's Suffrage Petition Signed Agnes Bitchener
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 17:55 BST (UK)  »
I came across a Women's Suffrage Petition for New Zealand signed in the 1890's in the Waimate/ Dunedin area by a woman called Agnes Bitchener.

I can't find any trace of her apart from that signature and the notation of her name. (I checked out any women named Agnes from that family in England in case she emigrated but found no one of that name.) Thanks in advance for any help.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Fanny Bitchener Born Cranfield No Trace After 1881
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 17:29 BST (UK)  »
We would appreciate help finding a record for Fanny Bitchener (name sometimes written ending in or.) She was born in 1863 at Cranfield on the Buckinghamshire border. We can find the record of her birth.

She is living with her married sister in the 1871census in the local area. When that sister Ann Welch (sometimes spelled Welsh) emigrates to New Zealand in 1875 on the "Lady Jocelyn" with her husband and children, plus her eldest brother Alfred Bitchener, Fanny stays behind. We next find her, aged 17 in 1881 as a servant with Georgina and Harriet Hesketh in Bedford (spelling incorrect as Heskeith.) Fanny's last name is spelled Bichener in that census.

We have searched for any record of a marriage or death or emigration but have been unsuccessful.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am seeking information on Albert Bitchener and his family who emigrated from Cranfield Bedfordshire, England arriving on the "Lady Jocelyn" in January of 1875. He was my great grandfather's brother. (Henry Bitchenor) I understand that Albert settled in Waimate and raised his family there. He may have returned to England for a visit prior to WW1. Any help in filling in the New Zealand family connection would be greatly appreciated.

Devon / Mary Worth Tiverton Marriage 1770 Need Birth and Death.
« on: Wednesday 11 July 12 02:10 BST (UK)  »
I have a record of a marriage in Tiverton Devon recorded in 1770 between William Worth and a Mary Tipper. They had several children: Mary 1771, Sarah 1776, William 1781 and John 1783.

I can't find any record of her birth or her death. I'd expected either one of them to be in Devon.

Thanks in advance for shedding any light on this one.
