The Common Room / Manchester Cathedral Records - what does this phrase mean
« on: Tuesday 02 April 13 18:35 BST (UK)  »
I was looking for an old baptism record - Manchester Cathedral documents all digitally on-line (wonderful resource) - and found what I think my be my 'relative' - but unlike all the others that say - for example - Anne, daughter of John and Mary Smith --- my entry (and many others have the  same expression written too) says - Samuel Lord -   nothing more in the note

I am imagining a child left on the doorsteps of the church. My husband thinks the people wrote down the info on paper near the font and then when written into the register - there was no other information.

Anyone know?

Thanks
Rosalyn
