Antrim / McClean/McLean from Galgorm Parks, Co. Antrim.
« on: Tuesday 08 August 23 18:57 BST (UK)  »
I'm compiling a database of the Mc(C)Lean families of Galgorm and Ballymena. John (Jonny) McClean born 5 Oct 1881 (according to his birth certificate) was a grounds keeper at Galgorm Castle who lived on the Sand Road in Galgorm with his sister Ellen until she died 31 Dec 1957.  I've been unable to find his death in GRONI up to 1973, newspaper obituaries or cemetery records.  Has anyone on the forum have any information about Jonny McClean after 1957?

Antrim / Ballymena Roman Catholic Census 1887 Available Online
« on: Friday 10 July 15 16:35 BST (UK)  »
While viewing the recently released online images of Irish RC Church Records, I found A Church Census in Ballymena which I estimate to be around 1887.  It is very clear to read and lists everyone's name and age in each church member's home by street and townland.
The film is 05473/11 and also has additional church event records.
I used the full screen button and magnify function on the builtin viewer controls.

Antrim Resources & Offers / Link: New Ballymena Area Burial and Plot Owners Online
« on: Saturday 07 June 14 02:37 BST (UK)  »
Recently Ballymena Museum have put lots of records online.  I have been able to confirm that some headstones that I suspected were of my ancestors were actually my Turk family's when I cross referenced to the plot owners.

My Alexander Moore is buried there but I don't think he has a headstone.  Do you know if there are any burial records in existence?

All of Northern Ireland is now on Google Maps Street View.  Using it in conjunction with the 1911 online census I've been able to view many of my ancestors' homes.

Researching JOHN MANSON originally from THE BRAID VALLEY, east of BALLYMENA (1699-1792)  He was married to AGNES JAMIESON who died young. I’m descended from their son JOHN MANSON (1723-1818) who was born near CAIRNCASTLE, LARNE, lived in BELFAST and died at COTTOWN near BANGOR, County Down. Another brother was DAVID MANSON, the Belfast educator, publisher and inventor.
