World War One / Private William Grant - Killed in action 07 November 1914
« on: Friday 21 October 16 18:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am trying to pin down where exactly my Great uncle died on 07/11/1914.
He was in the 1st Btn Hampshire Regiment, his army number was 6984, he was 27 years old. The accounts I have been able to find are pretty much generic and his battalion seems to have been between battles. So my question is what was he doing on the day he died, where were they? He is remembered at the Ploegsteert Memorial. Does anyone have access to the Hampshire Regiment diaries, or know how to get them?
Thanks

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / 1891 & 1901 Census look up please
« on: Sunday 07 February 10 13:53 GMT (UK)  »
I have the marriage certificate for William Rayner (or Rainer) and Rose Wanstall - Marriage 1910 St Pancras. The proper name should be Rayner but the 'y' is crossed out and an 'I' inserted. At the time of marriage William was 35 and Rose was 28, they both lived at 139 York Road (London, I assume). William's father was also called William. Rose's father was William Wanstall (deceased).
I would like to know who Rose was living with in the 1901 and 1891 census's.
William, may be a bit harder as it is a more common name and there are a few possible choices, all I can say is his father was William too!

Any help would be most appreciated!

I would like to share this with any members of the Coward family, they are not in my family tree but I think this would be an important document for them.

Would someone be so kind as to let me know who was living with Ann Halliday in the 1891 Census, she was a widow by this time and was about 77 or 78 years of age.
Or was she living alone?

Thanks

Mick
