Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help me as I'm stuck on when an old house in Hartlebury was built & using post ofice directories I've narrowed this down to after 1911 & before 1916 but would love to know the exact date & thank all who read this in advance

Worcestershire / Alfred "Smocky" Heeks one of the Little Comberton Roadmen
« on: Saturday 05 October 19 11:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi There

I'm at my whit's end & wonder if anyone local to Little Comberton can help me out - some years ago I purchased some very interesting books on Little Comberton & in one of them it refers to a roadman for the village & even shows 2 pictures of him but try as I may my own records cant find him as all the Alfred's Ive found are either living in other counties or of school age or just past it & in desperation Ive even contacted other Heeks researchers to see if they can help but have drawn a blank with all of them so I hope that someone can help with my dilemma as Id love to sort this one out as Heeks is my main line of research.

Thank you for reading this

Hi Gang

I wonder if anyone is planning a trip to Somerset Record Office in the near future & if so I wonder if that person would be kind enough to look up the burial date page & number of Harriett Jarvis death registered DEC Quarter 1873 & her burial should be in the registers for East Brent or Brent Knoll.

Thanking you all in anticipation

Warwickshire / Update on my suspected bigamist who proved not to be
« on: Saturday 19 May 18 11:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi Gang

I did promise you an update when I got home & was able to consult my more detailed records so here it is.
Ernest George Heeks who married Jane Fleet was my suspect as several of you may remember.

Ernest George s/o James/Edith Heeks BAP 24APR1881 at Little Comberton WOR & I assume that the witness William Henry Heeks would have been his brother who was BAP 29JUN1879 also at Little Cobberton.  My records also show that ernestGeorge had 1 brother & 7 sisters Also that his father James Heeks = Edith Beard on 25NOV1875 at Little Comberton & James father was Martin Heeks who was a brother to my gt gt grandfather William Heeks

Please don't think that I didn't appreciate all the help that you gave me when I was away from home & didn't have my full set of records to work from as without your help Id have made myself a great deal of work which could all have led me to make an error that may have got larger so I was glad that with your help it didn't happen.

All the very best

Phil

ps as for the members who helped me you know who you are & thank you once again :)

I wonder if anyone can spare the time to do a search for me as I can't get to the Birmingham library.

On free bmd I found a marriage for a Ernest George Heeks & Jane Fleet JUN quarter 1908 Aston district & they are on the 1911 census Ernest born Little Comberton & Jane born Tipton.

I also have a marriage for Ernest George Heeks to Christina Oakley on 13FEB1909 at Elmley Castle
Groom from Little Comberton Bride from Elmley Castle both fathers names were William.

Little Comberton & Elmley Castle are both in Worcestershire

I will be grateful if anyone can help me out with this problem

Worcestershire / Warning for anyone researching Sanders of Severn Stoke
« on: Saturday 28 October 17 11:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi There

If any of you are researching the name Sanders of Severn Stoke please beware of trees on Familysearch as I put a tree on their pages that contained the name Sanders of Severn Stoke & Familysearch took in upon themselves to add totally false information to that part of the tree which could cause a lot of problems for any inexperienced researcher so I thought Id pass this warning on.

Herefordshire / I am trying to establish an Elgar link
« on: Wednesday 24 August 16 17:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Gang

I put my request on Rootschat this morning but accidentally hit the Hertfordshire link so could I pretty please ask if fellow members would mind having a look at that as I'm trying to pick up a bit of local knowledge that may help me out

The parish I put on the original request was Ipsley but this was an error by me as I miss read it & it should be Tupsley

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this & I would be over the moon if someone in HEF is able to help me out a bit

Herefordshire / Im trying to establish a link to Edward Elgar
« on: Wednesday 24 August 16 11:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi Gang
(THIS LOOK UP HAS BEEN DONE FOR ME BY A KIND MEMBER OF ROOTSCHAT)
some years ago my late father said to me Auntie Nelly used to be Elgar's housekeeper but I didn't pay much attention then & wish to god I had - I wonder if anyone is able to help me as I found on Ancestry 1911 summary books that Plas Gwyn, Hampton Park Road, Ipsley, HEF is listed as being owned by Sir E. Elgar & it just says that 4 females were in the house at the time(I gather this would be 4 servants as Elgar was in Toronto when the 1911 census was taken).  I would love to know the names of those 4 females residing at Plas Gwyn in 1911 as one of them may have been an ancestor of mine - her surname may have been Lowe as that was the maiden name of my fathers mother who was born Staunton-on-Arrow

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this request & would be very grateful if anyone is able to help me

All my very best wishes to my fellow members on this valuable site
