Durham Lookup Requests / barcraft/beecroft/bearcroft/becroft
« on: Friday 11 October 19 16:50 BST (UK)  »
Different spellings make this difficult and some church records unavailable.
Is Elizabeth Barcroft/Barcraft born 1739 Chilton  sister to Matthew Becroft born 1741 at Thrundell and Jane Barecraft born 1738 at Thrundale and Dorothy about same age.  Father of all is Matthew Bearcroft who, I believe, was buried in  1749 at Kelloe. I have read the will of Jane Becroft  widow of Cassop,1767,  which makes me think I am on right track. Most of records seem to be Kirk Merrington.
Have not found marriage, presumably around 1735/38. Elizabeth at the top has been very hard to trace  since she is known as Beecroft and married peter bell in 1760 at Kelloe who farmed at Crow Trees. In our family tree no-one has succeeded in tracing Elizabeth, because of misleading spelling.
Is Thrundell/Thrundale Tursdale?

Please can you help me to trace descendants of John Bell born Kelloe c1792 and Dorothy Nicholson. Of several children, Augustine Bell , my direct ancestor, was born c 1836 at Bishopton but there are also links with Garmondsway Moor, specifically Fox and Hounds, West Cornforth (now shut up and for sale). Augustine also farmed at Elwick Hall, Close House near Wynyard in 1881 Census and later farmed at Whitton. His descendants are of interest to me and I know there were several "Bells" around Bishopton, Redmarshall and Carlton.I am descended from Caroline Emma Bell born 1870.

I am researching applegarth family. Albert Applegarth born 1904 married in darlington area in, I think, 1961 . It is the wife I am intrigued about.  What was her maiden name? Where was she living?
