Sligo / McGovern/McGowan/McCaughan, Regan and White.
« on: Thursday 28 March 24 19:24 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for information on a Bridget Regan who died 29 March 1873 in Heywood, Lancashire. She is described as aged 64 and the widow of Patrick Regan, farmer.

Bridget appears for definite in the 1861 census (there may be a sighting of her in 1851 but that is less certain), living with her daughter and son in law Bridget and John White in Heap, Bury, Lancashire.
Bridget McGovern and John White married at St Chad's Rochdale in 1852 and Bridget's father is stated to be James McGovern.

In the 1871 census all 3 of them (still in Heap)) say they were born Co Sligo.

So I'm looking for a Bridget born c 1809 in Co Sligo who married twice;
firstly, James McGovern with whom she had at least 3 children Bridget, Ann, and Anthony
and secondly, Patrick Regan.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Sussex / Burial search
« on: Sunday 07 February 21 23:28 GMT (UK)  »
My gt gt aunt Ruby Adelaide Royallminns died 10 October 1950, aged 77.

I am trying to find where she is buried.
She is not buried in West or East Wittering and cemetery services at Chichester District Council have no record of her.
I believe the crematorium in Chichester didn’t open until 1971.
Her will gives no instructions about her funeral or burial.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to where I could look?

Thanks!

Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / Photo of Mildred Fake and Fred Whatling
« on: Saturday 18 July 15 19:41 BST (UK)  »
I found this photo in a local junk shop. As you can see the names are written on the back of the photo. It was taken at Reads' Studios in Norwich. It isn't dated, but there is more writing which I haven't been able to decipher fully.
I believe it to be Edith Mildred Florence Fake born 1900 in Norwich district, not the Mildred Fake born in 1902 in the same district. I haven't been able to work out the relationship between the two either!

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Jesse Royall Minns
« on: Thursday 08 January 15 17:52 GMT (UK)  »
Jesse Royall Minns was born 4 March 1864 in Bristol to Henry Royall and Eliza Minns. In 1881 Jesse, along with his parents and 6 unmarried siblings, are in Street, Somerset.
This is the last sighting I have of Jesse. I can find no death or marriage for him in the UK (the one in Maidstone in 1910 is not him).
There is no definitive sighting of him in passenger lists, though one of his brothers, John Royall did end up in the USA and Puerto Rico, and another brother Henry Benjamin Royall did travel to Canada and the USA. The family as a whole spent time in Quebec, Canada in the 1870s.
This is a long shot but has anyone come across him anywhere in the world???
