Does anybody know where I can learn about Druggists and accoucheurs c.1840 esp. in Edinburgh?

I am esp. interested in Alexander and Jane Grant who were at various addresses on Broughton Street.

I also want to know about William Pearson "Writer" who is recorded in Jane's household in the June 1841 census.

Midlothian / William Pearson - info needed from Scottish 1841 census
« on: Monday 01 October 12 11:03 BST (UK)  »
I'm interested in William Pearson (b.1822 in Crambe, Yorkshire), who was recorded in Edinburgh in 1841 as a "Writer".  I'd really like an image of the entry, showing his entire household, and to know about his address.

Can anyone get this for me please?

Am also interested in the rest of his life - he studied Law in Edinburgh but then seems to have left for London in a hurry in January 1848.

Subject: Looking for GEORGE JOHNSON TAYLOR of CHEETHAM
Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2005 15:46:04 -0000
....I attend a French class once a week and yesterday I had to say a few words about my hobby of the last thirty-four years, looking for ancestors (les ancetres). After the class one of my fellow students told me he had been chasing one of his ancestors for many years - and had employed two professional researchers who were unable to find him too!

Has anyone come across GEORGE JOHNSON TAYLOR born Cheetham, in 1891 he was still living there aged 69 years. He does not appear in the 1901 Census.

I have checked the NBI2 and found one other person named Johnson Taylor, though not in this area.

My own research, in Suffolk particularly, shows that many children are given middle names which are other family members surnames. If anyone has research in Suffolk, happy to help anytime. Thanks,

Regards, Pat ...
