Longford / David/Donald/Daniel Johnston
« on: Tuesday 20 December 11 10:39 GMT (UK)  »
I have a David alias Donald[Daniel] Johnston who was transported to Australia in 1831 aboard the Edward [2].
His trial was in Longford 10/3/1830, his offense was stealing clothes, and his sentence was ten years. He was originally from Cork. He was 27 years of age when convicted, listed as single.
Can anyone help me find a transcript of the court proceedings from Longford??I have no idea where to start looking.
Thanks for any help  :)

Australia / My Brickwall - Daniel JOHNSON/Ellen DALY or DALEY
« on: Thursday 01 September 11 12:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

My brickwall is my great great grandparents - Daniel and Ellen JOHNSON (nee DALY). I cannot find death certificates for either, and I dont know whether they immigrated here or were born here in Australia.
The information I do have on them is as follows:

They were married on the 18th Feb 1851 at Carcoar, NSW. I have managed to find 7 children,

Michael b. 1850 NSW, d. 1930 Charleville QLD,
Thomas b. 1850 Forbes NSW d. 1901 Cobar NSW,
Daniel b. 1852 NSW, d. 1922 Charleville QLD,
Ellen b. 1852 Namie NSW, d. 1912 Blayney NSW,
Honora b. 1855 Forbes NSW, d. 1913 Bathurst NSW,
Jane b. 1857 Lachlan River NSW, d. 1860 Orange NSW,
Elizabeth b. 1859 Orange NSW, d. 1897 Molong NSW.

On the certificates I have Daniel is also known as Dan, Thomas, and Johnston. Ellen has also been called Ann. Daniel was known as a settler, farmer and stockman.

Of the children
Michael had a defacto relationship with MaryAnn GASSMANN,
Daniel never married,
Thomas married Bessie Ann DEAN,
Ellen married Henry RANDALL,
Honora married William BEACHAM,
Elizabeth married John KEARNEY.

I have several death cert's for Daniel Johnson, but none have turned out to be my relative. And my other qandry is, could Ellen have remarried??

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Deb
