Wiltshire Lookup Requests / James SHELL and Lucy SHEWRING, born about 1755
« on: Sunday 18 March 18 18:35 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyonehelp me find the births, parents and siblings of James and Lucy?

James and Lucy married in 1779 in Corsham - she being ofthe parish, he being a dweller in the parish.  They had 14 children in Box, the last one being born in 1805.

I’m not 100% sure of James and Lucy’s deaths, but IF they are the couple who were buried on the same day in Feb 1837 in Badwick (bathwick?), Box, she would have had her eldest child when she was 51 ... which seems rather old.  It would also mean that she was born in 1754 and he in 1757.  Can anyone help me find their parents and any siblings?

If it helps, their children’s names were Isaac, Mary Ann, Catherine, Jacob, William, William (again) Lucy, Maria, James, Rose Hannah, Isaac (again), Samuel, George Gullick, John. (Some children died, hence having multiple children given the same name).

I also can’t find what happened to Maria b1794, James b1796 and Rose Hannah  b1797, although James was in the British Army in Canada when he was 16.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Warwickshire / Pemberton family in Birmingham early 1830s
« on: Wednesday 07 March 18 15:29 GMT (UK)  »
I’m having trouble finding the father of Pemberton children born in Birmingham.  The mum was called Sarah (maiden name not known, born abr 1792 (Bolas, Newport?) Shropshire).

We know of 3 daughters, but cant find their birth records (and dont know if they have siblings)

-  Hannah Maria b 1817 Birmingham m Marmaduke William Osborne in Birmingham 1839. I’m hoping someone is happy to look through records and find the marriage details for info on her dad.  I dont know which church they were married at. The details are not on ancestry.

- Rebecca b 1824 m Edgebaston, Warwickshire AND Kings Norton, Worcester 1853. The Edgbaston record has the fathers details missing but maybe someone can look them up in Kings Norton Register?

- Sarah Louisa - born 1830 (not married)

We only know of their existence through census details.

Any help gratefully received :)

Hi
Would anyone be willing to check whether there are any death records (between 1806 and 1828) in the above parish under the name of Bowen.  I understand that one of our ancestors died there in 1828, but he may have had wife and children who lived there too.  His name is Tamerlane Bowen and he would have been 91 if he died in 1828.
We also know that one of his wives was called Elizabeth but have no marriage for them.  Tamerlane could have married any time between 1755 and 1778 ... having babies in Nevern, Pembrokeshire until 1806!! (Perhaps he married more than one woman called Elizabeth).
Any help greatly appreciated.

England / What does it mean to not register a birth (circa 1845 Essex)
« on: Sunday 31 July 16 21:33 BST (UK)  »
We've been trying to find the father of some children born around 1845  to one woman in Essex. The parish records do not give the fathers name, they just give the mothers name (her married name -but we think her husband had died) and do not say the children were 'bastards'.

And the mother didn't register the births!!!

Does anyone know what this could imply (she had money, so wasn't poor) ?

Does anyone know how she could get away with not registering the births?

Any clues as to what this could mean, or how to look further would be greatly welcomed.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Jacob Appleyard, Batley 1689
« on: Sunday 07 June 15 19:37 BST (UK)  »
I'd be very grateful if someone would kindly confirm whether or not a Jacob Appleyard was baptised in Batley, all saints, on 10 Nov 1689. Various people on ancestry have the date, but no-one cites the record.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Parents of Rebecca Rowel - Holybourne Hampshire
« on: Wednesday 27 May 15 15:34 BST (UK)  »
I have questioned in my family tree whether Thomas Rowel and Ester Parsons are the parents of Rebecca, born around 1790 in Holybourne.  I might have got the info several years ago from the records office, but haven't noted it down properly!

Please could someone confirm what her parents names are ... and perhaps their marriage date and parishes.

Prenderville could be spelt many ways including, Prinitable, Prendiville, Prendeville (etc).  Their first child, that we know of, was born in 1864 in St Michaels, Limerick City.  We believe they are both from Limerick.  Any help tracing their marriage and origins greatly appreciated.

Pembrokeshire / *Problem solved* The Bowens of Nevern
« on: Wednesday 21 May 14 20:41 BST (UK)  »
I saw one of my probable ancestors on familysearch, but unfortunately there's limited info on there.

I'm trying to figure out who's who in my ancestors. Someone here helped me find out that a Tamerlane Bowen was having children at the end of the 1700s.  It would be great to know exactly which baptisms are of his children, and are who the other couples (fathers!) having babies there, because I think they'll all be related.

But most importantly, can some check whether the parish record gives an age for the Tamerlane (very often and wildly misspelled and mistranscribed) who died there in 1792. And if it doesn't give an age, perhaps it might suggest whether it was an adult or child?

(We're trying to find a link between several Tamerlanes .... And think we might be missing a link).  Any help greatly appreciated.

.... And I just remembered that somewhere I saw Tamerlane taking on an apprentice at the end of the 1700s. It would be great to know what his profession was!!

Familysearch says a child of this name was baptised there and then, but it gives no parents names. Might someone be able to check the parish register and see if the parents names are noted there? ... And if so which are his siblings too?
