« on: Thursday 19 November 20 11:24 GMT (UK)  »

Surrey / Stanbridge, Neckland/Nickland, Birt/Burt and Heath Families in Worplesdon/Albury
« on: Thursday 27 September 18 16:22 BST (UK)  »
John STANBRIDGE (d.1758), Papermaker of Burpham (Worplesdon parish), appears to have been a son of Robert STANBRIDGE of Albury, Surrey, John being baptised in 1695 in Albury. John had a wife called Elizabeth, and it is suspected that he was the John STANBRIDGE who married an Elizabeth NECKLAND on September 27, 1741 in Worplesdon. In his Will of 1758 John left part of his estate to his “late wife's niece Mary HEATH, wife of George HEATH, to divide between the family and her”, she also being his sole executrix. Mary HEATH was either the Mary BURT (or BIRT) (d.1793) (dau. of Rachel BURT (nee ?????) - d.1794) of Worplesdon, who married George HEATH (c1727-1793) of Stoke (Blacksmith), by banns, in Worplesdon on May 8, 1755, or else she was the Mary FRANKS who had married George HEATH (Husbandman)(d.1772) in Worplesdon on October, 1, 1727. the latter Mary was probably the Mary HEATH buried in woollen in Worplesdon on 16-10-1764. I am trying to establish the links between Elizabeth, who married John STANBRIDGE, and her niece, Mary HEATH (nee ?????).

Wiltshire / Reverend John Parker (c1753-1828 or c1750-1825) of Kemble
« on: Tuesday 03 April 18 21:40 BST (UK)  »
The Reverend John Parker was apparently vicar of All Saints, Kemble for 40 years. He was buried in Kemble on June 5, 1828, aged 75 (i.e. born circa 1753), although his gravestone says that he died on June 1, 1825, aged 75 (i.e. born circa 1750). He had a wife, Mary, and his first child seems to have been born around 1789. I am trying to find out more about him and his family, particularly his son, William (probably born in the 1790s), and whether the Rev. John left a Will. John Ross Parker, his eldest son,  was buried in Kemble on September 13, 1812, having died on September 11, 1812, aged 23 (i.e. born circa 1789). Can anyone help on this? Vincent

Northamptonshire / EKINS Family of Thingdon (Finedon) in 17th century
« on: Wednesday 23 March 16 20:44 GMT (UK)  »
Mary EKINS of Thingdon (Finedon) seems to have married William WHITWORTH of Earls Barton around October 1676. She died in 1705. Does anyone know about this family in Finedon, and the EKINS family there?

Elizabeth LAUGHTON (d.1698), who was baptised in Newton Blossomville (NB) on February 11, 1643, daughter of Thomas LAUGHTON (prob.c1620-1694), appears to have married William BODDINGTON (c1641-1698) of Turvey, Beds, just before 1672, but it is not known where. Although most of their children were baptised in Turvey, their daughter, Mary BODDINGTON (pre-1682-1705/6) was not, and it has been suggested that she was baptised in NB in 1673. William BODDINGTON (c1641-1698) was probably a grandson of Walter BODDINGTON (d.1621), who held properties in both Turvey and NB, and was buried in NB in 1621. Thomas LAUGHTON (prob.c1620-1694) appears to have been baptised in Emberton, nearby, a son of another Thomas LAUGHTON. Does anyone have more info on these 2 families in the area? Vincent

Bedfordshire / BODDINGTONs of Turvey in the 17th Century
« on: Monday 22 June 15 15:48 BST (UK)  »
Mary BODDINGTON married William WHITWORTH of Earls Barton, Northants, in Turvey in 1694. Her father was William BODDINGTON (c1641-1698) of Turvey, son of George BODDINGTON and Susann. William appears to have married an Elizabeth before 1678. Does anyone know more about this family at that time, that also appears in Chellington and Carlton, as well as just over the county boundary in Newton Blossomville, Bucks?

Northamptonshire / The Family of John EYLLE (d.c. 1691), Yeoman of Hardingstone
« on: Thursday 02 April 15 11:56 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know about the family of John EYLLE/EYLE (who left a Will proved in 1691), who was Yeoman of Hardingstone? He appears to have been the John EYLE, who held lands in East End Fields of Hardingstone in 1660. His daughter, Ann MANNING (previously EVANS) (nee EYLE) (pre-1655-1718) married firstly John EVANS (d.c. 1668) by 1667, and had a son with him, but then married William MANNING (d.1709) of Cotton End, Hardingstone in Preston Deanery on January 26, 1670, by licence, and had further issue with him in Hardingstone.

I cannot make it all the way up to Lincoln at present, and wondered if someone could look-up some entries for me in the 1839 Survey and Map of Orton, Northants in the recently catalogued HIGGINS DEPOSIT - HUNGERFORD ESTATES “HIG/9/1” – Records of the Hungerfords of Dingley, mostly those of HHH Hungerford from 1839 – 1886, in the Lincolnshire Archives. I am looking for the references to the properties of William and James COOK and the PALMER family in Orton from that survey.  I am looking for the precise date for the 1839 Survey document of Estate in Orton, and a precise date for the map (if different), and details as to what property precisely that they rented. John PALMER was probably the PALMER family renter. Can anyone help?

Northamptonshire / WHITWORTH family of Earls Barton
« on: Wednesday 17 September 14 16:35 BST (UK)  »
I have just learnt from the 1851 Census entry that John WHITWORTH (c1770/71-1855), although he mainly seemed to live in London and Bedfordshire, was actually born in Earls Barton, Northants. I recall that a number of people have researched these WHITWORTHs in Earls Barton, including Anthony Whitworth, Roger W. Whitworth and Alan Whitworth of Whitby, but no longer know how to contact these people. Can anyone help, or offer suggestions for the baptism of John?
