Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1796 born Kirkden Parish -David Foord
« on: Sunday 06 October 19 14:41 BST (UK)  »
Just to be for sure a couple of words - it is written from a 1796 birth record (attached) from the parish of Kirkden, (Forfarshire, Angus)

Last entry:
April 23rd David Ford in Gask ... .. (had a)?
Natural Son Baptised David
David Foord

Question - is it a normal thing to right 'natural son'? I am having a problem finding more details about the mother!
Thanks in advance for help

Hello; I've been researching for more information about Agnes Wallace for a very long time and had no luck finding information her, either via Ancestry or on Scotland's People, so I figured I'd ask for help here.

What is known - In the Kirkden Baptism Register, there is a record in April 1796 of the baptism of a natural son David born to David Ford “in Gask” (Gask is quite close to Craichie, Dunnichen)but the mother's name was not named.

Facts: David Ford, Famer at East Craichie, born/ch. 23rd April 1796 in Kirkden, who marries Crawford Pullar, dies at East Mains of Craichie, 17 May 861. David is definitely, according to his death entry, the illegitimate son of David Ford and Agnes Wallace.

Question: it appears that David Ford and Agnes were not married when evidence is that Agnes was not styled as “Agnes Ford, M(aiden) S(urname) Wallace”, but just as “Agnes Wallace”. Also, I can't find any birth, marriage or death records for her anywhere in Dunnichen or in Angus (Forfarshire)

David Ford and his family are at East Craichie according to the 1841 Census but is written:  Agnes Ford age 75. Maybe an oversight when the son calls his Mum - Ford

Agnes was still alive in 1841 (Census: 1841 Craichie, Dunnichen, Forfar, Scotland)
Agnes Ford
Age: 75
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1766
Where born: Angus, Scotland
Civil parish: Dunnichen
County: Angus. Address: East Crachie

Thanks in advance if anyone can help with any details regarding, Agnes WALLACE

Question 1. Not sure is the right spelling 'Relict' - meaning that Ann Buchannan was a 'widow' when she married William Dick?
3. Is the next line after the word, Relict part of this marriage or?
of
James ...... Malt milne? maker in Easter Causway & Margaret

Question 2. Does the word 'horse couper means that he is a horse-dealer?

William Dick's first wife died approx. in 1766, but yet to find proof of Ann Buchannan had being married before.
