Suffolk / Little Stonham - Elizabeth Page
« on: Thursday 04 April 24 12:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Trying to ascertain if there were two children named Elizabeth born to John Page and Susan nee Freeman.
I have a baptism for the first Elizabeth on 9th May 1785 which was a private baptism
The second Elizabeth was baptised 6th June 1786. All events in Little Stonham but I have transcripts only.
I can find no burial for the first Elizabeth and I wondered if the second "baptism" was when she was received in to the church having been privately baptised the previous year.
If anyone has access to the original records could they please check to see if there is a burial or if the second baptism was just a receival.
Thanks

Hi,
Looking to confirm the occupation of Edward Wasey Jenkinson on the 1911 census. Family believed he was working as underbutler at Toward Castle although originally from Norfolk, England. I have located an Edward W Jenkinson of appropriate age in Argyll in 1911 but don't have access to the record.
Any helpwould be much appreciated.

Lincolnshire / Tonge Brass Memorial Plaques - St Marys Carlton Le Moorland
« on: Wednesday 28 June 23 12:41 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Is there anyone who can get a photograph of the brass memorial plaque of Tonge who died 1764. The burial register lists her as Catherine Tonge of Stapleford but I am hoping the plaque has her as Rebecca/ Rebecka.
The other Tonge brass is of Joseph Tonge of Stapleford who died a year later and would have been Rebecca's husband. Rebecca's maiden name was Eastland and the other plaques are of Eastland ancestors
Thanks

Canada / Tong(u)e family arrived from Lincolnshire
« on: Thursday 18 May 23 11:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
long shot but I'm trying to trace the Tonge/Tongue family who came over from Lincolnshire, England. I believe they settled in the Niagara Falls area and had a market garden/truck farm. Family stories tell of a 9 acre bed of parsley!

Could be circa 1900 but date seems to vary from story to story.

Thanks

United States of America / Joseph Tongue Gualala area, Mendocino, California
« on: Thursday 27 April 23 11:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
trying to trace information on Joseph Tonge/Tongue who emigrated to US from Lincolnshire, England in 1864 possibly via Canada. I have sight of him in the 1880 census when he is in Gualala and a farmer. Single at this date. I then find him in the same area of Mendocino in 1900 when he states he has been married for 11 years. No wife is shown on the census.

Can anyone find Joseph on the 1890 census when he would presumably be newly married? I have been unable to discover a marriage for him but I suppose it might have been a common-law marriage.
Any details on Joseph and most importantly any children/wife would be much appreciated.

I know he is supposed to have been the second husband of Mary McCarthy/Reynolds but this was just before his death in 1908 with no issue forthcoming.

Thanks

Graveyards and Gravestones / Completed Thanks
« on: Tuesday 27 July 21 11:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I realise this is a tall ask but can anyone enhance or decipher anything on this gravestone.
I've tried different filters etc but obviously a limit with the number of pixels.

I can read the Sarah Ashdown wife of. Any date or words that can confirm this is the stone I think it is. Obviously I will need to get to the churchyard and look at the stone but I'm not near it.

Maybe someone could date the stone by the style?
Any help would be gratefully received.
