Warwickshire / Phillimore Coventry
« on: Friday 30 June 17 09:27 BST (UK)  »
I seem to have aquired a 1st/2nd cousin via DNA testing that is posing a bit of a mystery. She is certainly not a first cousin, so I am thinking perhaps a second? The complication is that she is in America and adopted. So knows little about her bio family. So asking, just in the off chance someone has this line in their family.
I am looking for the descendants of a Ann Elizabeth PHILLIMORE. Born Coventry about 1920/21. She married an American Soldier Albert Leasure just after the war and Ann moved to Oklahoma. There is a daughter, still in the UK, not sure if still living. The other children went with mum and were either put into foster care or adopted out.

Leicestershire / Coroners Records for 1871
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 21:51 GMT (UK)  »
I have checked the website for the archives, but that was not much help. Does anyone have any idea where the coroners records for 1871 could be found, if they still exist?

Thanks

Deb

Well at long last I have got the photos when I was last at that end working, so if someone would like to PM me their email addy I will get them over asap.

There was a cotton mill at Borrowash, John Swindell Esq was the principle owner and the mill was under the name of Messrs John Towle and Co.

Does anyone know where I can find some more information?

Thanks

Lancashire / The elusive David Bosworth
« on: Monday 05 May 08 13:58 BST (UK)  »
David Bosworth died January 1st 1871, found frozen to death in a goods van at Leceister Railway Sidings. He was about 27 years old and was living at Stretton, Burton on Trent. Occupation given on the death certificate as a Good Guard for Midland Railway.

He married a Sarah Walker Yates on October 9th 1866 in Burton on Trent and gave fathers name as John Bosworth, Labourer.

In between marriage and death there was a child born in Manchester or Burton, depending on which records you read and another one born in Burton.

I have contacted the Midland Railway Centre who have kindly found the following information.
D. Bosworth. Under Guard, Manchester @ 21/-, removed to Burton as Head Guard @ 24/- vice J.Hewitt
This was in 1870, however I am struggling to find family. There is a David Bosworth born in Derby that matches his age, but I am not convinced that this is the right one. His wife is a Derbyshire lass and was illegtimate just to confuse things further.  ???

Is it possible that David is from Manchester originally, or was just posted there for work. The latter is the best bet as he married in 1866, so he could have worked in Burton, then up to Manchester and then posted back down again.

Any ideas please?

Debbie

This is my father taken I should think about 1956-58 in what looks like the back yard of his mothers house. Now what can you see, this is a serious question, just need to check that I am not going mad. I have looked at this photo at various stages before and never spotted this till now.

Am I going mad, has the brain finally been addled with all these dates and names?! :P

Warwickshire / Esther Bodfish
« on: Wednesday 19 September 07 14:15 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out some more information about this woman, so I was wondering if anyone else has researched the family.

Esther was born in Tadmorton in 1842. She then during her life went on to have four children with no sign of a husband. She moved to Leamington Spa in the year of the birth of her first child, I assume to get away from her home county and all the associated gossip. She has worked in various inns in leamington and as a launderess. She does not appear to have been in receipt of poor relief and seems to have kept the family together, apart from on one census the two girls appear to have been fostered out.

Esther eventually died on 16th October 1899 in Rushmore Street, Leamington Spa.

The daughter of one of Esther's sons, still speaks in hushed tones about her father being born on the worng side of the sheets, however she cannot recall her father's two sisters and seemed surpirsed to learn about them.

I am fascinated about this woman and would love to learn more about her and how she managed to raise four children with out a marriage to her name.

All other sources have come up blank on her.

Thanks in anticipation
