The Common Room / adopted ancestor
« on: Sunday 31 May 20 16:14 BST (UK)  »
I have the names of my ancestors adoptive parents and also the name of his biological father as appears on his marriage certificate.Unfortunately the name of his father being  John Jackson with no date of birth or without mothers name I am just going down blind alleys all the time.
Is there any way of finding out who my ancestors biological parents are??  (I know by the time he reached 9 years of age he had been adopted as he was with his adoptive parents on the 1891 census but he had not been born at the time of the 1881 census)

Nottinghamshire / Thomas Lambert-Ann Paulson
« on: Monday 26 August 13 11:56 BST (UK)  »
looking for ancestors of Thomas Lambert b.1752 and/or Ann Paulson b.1751

Thomas and Ann were married in Ossington in 1778
Parish records show that both were living in Ossington at the time of their marriage and the witnesses were Jas Hayes and John Pate.

The next entry in the register was the marriage of the Mr Hayes (who was one of the witnesses) to Mary Lambert(possibly Thomas sister). This time Thomas is a witness.

I have up to now been unable to find any birth or baptism records for either Thomas or Ann.

If anyone can help I will be most grateful.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / wedding 1960
« on: Saturday 15 June 13 13:21 BST (UK)  »
This photo was recently sent to my wife and it is the first time she has seen it which is quite surprising as it was taken in 1960 and she is the bridesmaid presenting the lucky horseshoe. It would be nice if it could be cleaned up a bit and maybe some colour added. (my wife has red hair)

Trying to work out an ancestors occupation. The 1851 census describes it as what looks like
MILLERS CADGER. Would be grateful if anyone can come up with any suggestions.

I know his first wife was called Selina and that she was born in manchester in 1883 and died in york in 1921.the marriage must have been around 1903.the 1911 census shows the couple living at 85 heworth village, york with their 2 surviving children"Irene nellie"born 1903 and"Lena"born 1905.
I cant find any records of marriage for the parents or the daughters or death records for the daughters.I would really like to know if there are any surviving family members
