Herefordshire / Morris/Edmunds family in Hereford
« on: Wednesday 01 March 23 16:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I am searching the above family for more information.
The parents are Susan Morris and Samuel Edmunds/Edmunds. I have census for 1841 to 1881.
Both parents were born around 1817/1818 and some of the family lived at some time in Turks alley, green street or  St Owen Street. Children seem to have been born between 1839 and 1863 which seems to be a long period of time. I am wondering if I may have got two families mixed up. Mother’s maiden name is Morris.

In 1871 census, son Richard Valentine is born in 1863  (mothers maiden name Morris). His brother Thomas born in 1861 appears to have mothers maiden name as Williams according to GRO. There is another Thomas born in 1845 with mother’s maiden name as Morris. He is on the1851 census.

(Ann) Elizabeth Edmunds I believe is born in 1849 according to GRO. In 1881 Elizabeth Edmunds is head of house and has children. No mention of a husband. My interest is in her son Harry born 1878 who later in life appears to have married a Lily Harford and lived in Gloucester.

Elizabeth’s daughter Susan appears to have the surname Powell in her name and wondered if anyone could find out any definite information about Elizabeth Edmunds/Edmonds.

In 1851 Susan’s brother James is living with them. He is a shoemaker born in 1823

Thanks for any help in confirming if same family, the name Powell, or anything else

Monmouthshire / Birth Augustus theophrutus Wynne Jones
« on: Thursday 12 November 20 21:46 GMT (UK)  »
Wondered if anyone can help me find a birth please. I have searched on GRO and freebmd.

His name is Augustus Theophrutus Wynne Jones. He was born in Victoria, South Wales about 1857, so would imagine it would be under Bedwellty or Abergavenny. His parents were Edward Jones and Margaret Wynne. He was baptised in 1863 in St George’s Church In Tredegar the same day as one of his siblings children . He had quite a few siblings.  There is a record of his marriage in 1880 in Swansea. There is an abundance of census records although his name is transposed wrongly on a couple

Some have mixed up the parents name and put him down as Morgan. One of his sisters married surname.

Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you Gill

Glamorganshire / Edmunds in Cardiff and possibly Gloucester
« on: Wednesday 09 September 20 20:41 BST (UK)  »
I have a couple of problems all to do with same family. I have mentioned it in past but now have some definate information. I am looking for Henry Edmunds ancestors.
Henry married Beatrice Callow in Cardiff in 1922. His father was Henry Edmunds and a bricklayer. Henry Jnr died on 9/4/1926 age 24 in Cardiff. There is no apparent birth certificate. He definitely had a sister Violet who married Arthur Brown in Cardiff and says she was born acc to 1939 register on 21/1/1902. That possibly is not true as her family had a troubled time and she needed a job so apparently started work at age 12. Her mother possibly is called Lilian or Lily. There is a family in Gloucester but not sure so starting from scratch.  Henry’s mother died apparently when the children were young and they were looked after by Bill and Susan Williams. Susan is the informant on Henry’s death certificate and named as an aunt. On 1939 register John William Williams and Susan Williams were living with Violet and her husband Arthur.
According to Henry’s death certificate he was a railwayman carriage cleaner
A member of the family has said he believes that Henry snr May have been in the First World War Gloucester regiment and won a medal.
I have looked everywhere I can think.

Hi

I am looking for the parents of George Lomas born 1740 in Biddulph. He married Sarah Winckle on 3/1/1765 in Biddulph. George died in Biddulph and buried on 28/2/1823.  I also think there may be a will dated 7/10/1828.

Is there anyone with any info. Would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Monmouthshire / Victoria quoits club

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about Victoria Quoits Club in Bedwellty  circa 1900. In particular Thomas Morgan. Thomas was involved in creating Ebbw Vale as an urban community and was previously a member of the old local board. He was also a member of the Bedwellty Board of guardians.  Any information about Thomas and his work and family would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Glamorganshire / Daniel edwards tongwynlais.
« on: Tuesday 03 April 18 01:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am helping a friend look for relatives of her father Daniel Edward Edwards.

Daniel Edward Edwards was born in 1922 and was brought up by some family members in Tongwynlais, Glamorgan. My friend thinks that they may have been grandparents but we can’t seem to find anyone of same name. They ran the chip shop in the main road in Tongwynlais.

Daniel Edward Edwards parents were Daniel Edwards born 1904 and Violet Davies born 1901 They married in 1922.

We don’t have a marriage certificate yet for Daniel and Violet that we would hope give their father’s names.

We think the years could be any time between 1922and 1942 when he married

Daniel Edward Edwards served in the Royal Navy. So some of the latter years he may have enlisted.

I am hoping that someone may have some local knowledge that could help my friend who lives in Australia.

Thanks
Gill

Lancashire / William charles billington and Gladys travis
« on: Wednesday 07 March 18 22:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am helping my son in law with his family tree who appear to pop in and out of Cheshire and Lancashire. Unfortunately his mother knows little about the family and before I send off for a marriage certificate thought I would ask on here if anyone can help me get further back

William and Gladys were married in Manchester in 1939, I have found two people of similar names ie Charles w  Billington on 1939 register.  On register Gladys was born on 28//11/1919 and William (Charles) 28/2/1914. I think possibly Gladys parents may be Emily mcglaulin and Edward Travis. I am more interested in the Billington family however as I can’t find anything that fits.

« on: Tuesday 20 February 18 20:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for a birth record and any information for Patrick Stephen Mansfield born about 1845/6 in Ireland possibly Cork. At some stage Patrick moved to Manchester England where he married Annie in 1870 in Chorlton, Manchester although in some census it appears as Agnes (if anyone knows why there is a change in name). Patrick was a ‘wood carver’. His father was James Mansfield.  Patrick died in 1915 and is buried in Manchester.

Thanks

Gill
