The Lighter Side / Boxing Names and Connections
« on: Friday 09 July 10 16:28 BST (UK)  »
HAYE,  SAUNDERS  and SEXTON

Some of the current British boxers in the news include David Haye, Billy Joe Saunders and Ashley Sexton.  It would be interesting hearing about the family trees of
these and the many others through the years such as Randy Turpin, Terry Downes,
Alan Rudkin, Henry Cooper, Liam Cameron, and many more.

Some of the ones from Wales such as Johnny Owen, Jimmy Wilde etc.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / STAINES, James William & Hannah Maria Zelley
« on: Friday 21 November 08 19:59 GMT (UK)  »
In reviewing marriage records from different sources, I noticed
a marriage of one James William Staines and Hannah Maria Zelley
in1878 Farnham District at Aldershot Parish in Hampshire.

Hannah Maria is likely the daughter of William L. Zelley
(brother of Richard Zelley) all from the Weymouth region of Dorset.

I have little information on James William Staines, or
where they were in 1881 or 1891.  Any help would be appreciated.

The Lighter Side / Our Family Tree - Civilian Casualties of WW II
« on: Monday 10 November 08 10:38 GMT (UK)  »
As we search through our own family trees, many of us will have those
sad chapters relating to some of our kin that were civilian casualties during
WW II such as those lost in London during the Blitz.

This thread is dedicated to them.

Some of my own lost during the Blizt include:
Great Aunt Martha Matilda (Kyne) Goodwin, Great Uncle John Goodwin,
second cousin Lilian Primrose Selley and her father William Selley.
They were killed in the residence of Martha and John
at New North Road in Shoreditch.

The Lighter Side / Remembrance Day - November 11
« on: Saturday 30 August 08 07:43 BST (UK)  »
Although this thread is saved until November, I thought with increased casualties in current conflicts, I would welcome any names from conflicts
in addition to WW I and WW II.

However, we may want to wait until November to post.

Recently came across a piece about an old fire house in Exeter.
There was a reference about one John Henry Zelley
being the Captain of the Fire Brigade in 1878.

One Name Studies: H to M / JOLLIFFE Families
« on: Thursday 31 July 08 00:53 BST (UK)  »
On the Dorset thread there has been some discussion of the JOLLIFFE
family name.  Therefore, this thread is an attempt to expand on the scattered bits of information.

My initial interest in the JOLLIFFE name was the ones in Weymouth, Dorset that were neighbours of some of my relatives such as Richard Zelley, George
John Flisher and others

Devon Lookup Requests / FLISHER - births & marriages
« on: Friday 18 April 08 10:57 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the name of the parents of:
Irene Eleanor FLISHER, born about 1901 in the Devonport area
and Gladys Mary FLISHER born in 1903.

Also, is there any record of their marriages  in the 1920's.
