Nottinghamshire / Joseph Wheat and Elizabeth Atkin
« on: Friday 24 February 17 06:35 GMT (UK)  »
Could somebody with access to registers please let me know if any information is recorded for the marriage of Joseph Wheat and Elizabeth Atkin at Gedling on 6th November 1831. Any other details such as witness, parents etc would be a great help.

Thank you

Rutland / James Sharp / Churchman
« on: Monday 23 May 16 12:47 BST (UK)  »
I have found a baptism for James Churchman 12 November 1786 - at Blatherwycke, Northamptonshire.
Father Thomas Churchman and mother Mary Sharp.
James's 1786 baptism record at Blatherwyke (found on the Free REG website) states - under the parents' names - "abode - Wing RUT" (i.e. county of Rutland).
Blatherwycke C of E gives
12 Nov 1786
James SHARP /CHURCHMAN s of Thomas Churchman & Mary Sharp of
the parish of Wing, Rutland
It appears that James was illegitimate.
I am wondering if anyone with access is able to see if Mary Sharp appears in any Bastardy records or Removal Orders.  I am in Australia and trying to trace the birth of a James Sharp in Lincolnshire born about that time.

Nottinghamshire / Joseph Wheat
« on: Friday 06 May 16 10:24 BST (UK)  »
Have found a baptism for Joseph Wheat on 12 June 1803 at Saint Mary, Nottingham.
Is some kind person able to check the register to see if there is any mention of Thringstone in Leicestershire.  I am in Australia trying to find the birth of Joseph Wheat who was married in Nottingham and appears in a number of Census' as living in Nottingham but giving his place of birth as Thringstone Leicester. On the Census records  it gives his year of birth in Thringstone as various years between 1801 and 1806.  The 1803 birth in Nottingham is the only Joseph Wheat I have been able to find anywhere in that period.

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Twins or an error?
« on: Tuesday 08 March 16 07:31 GMT (UK)  »
Would somebody with access to the register be able to check the following for me please?

Searching the Free Family Search site I find a James Sharp born on the 25 August 1789 and baptised on the 28 September 1789 in Laxton. There is an identical listing for John Sharp. Same dates and same father John and mother Dorothy Harper.

I would like any information on these records thank you.

Essex / James Sharp Epping
« on: Tuesday 23 February 16 03:19 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking some help with a couple of searches of registers if somebody is kind enough to help.
I am in Australia and have been unable to find these things out.

Through the free Family Search site I have found a christening on the 3rd July 1785 of a James Sharpe at Epping Essex.  Father John and Mother Ann.

I am unable to find a marriage for these two and would like to know if and when the marriage took place in Essex.  Ideally I would like to know the mothers full name.

Any additional information from the birth and marriage records would be appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / James Sharp Luddenden
« on: Sunday 14 February 16 07:29 GMT (UK)  »
I have found a baptism of James Sharp in Luddenden on 2/11/1788 with a father of John. Could some kind person with access to the registers identify the mother's name for me please?

I found the baptism on the free Family Search site which does not appear to have mother details for that period.

Thank you

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / York Mothers
« on: Thursday 11 February 16 01:29 GMT (UK)  »
In searching the Free Family site mothers are never shown for baptisms while most Counties have both mothers and fathers given.  Does this mean the Parish registers do not have them?

Lincolnshire / Nonconformists
« on: Thursday 07 August 14 23:19 BST (UK)  »
I have been looking at the Official Nonconformist BDM website where there are heaps of entries but appear to be very very few for Lincolnshire.
Does this mean there weren't many in Lincolnshire? That the records are elsewhere? or Records were lost?

Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Lincolnshire / Brothertoft Baptisms
« on: Wednesday 27 November 13 02:15 GMT (UK)  »
I have been checking baptisms around 1788 in Brothertoft.

In particular I was looking at one on April 13 for Hawe son of Thos and Anne Sharp.
It further had the words "named" and "pauper".

I have been unable to find any further record of a Hawe Sharp.  It is an unusual surname. I find some Ann Haw or Hawe's and suspect this could have been an illegitimate birth.

I notice there are a number of baptisms around this one with the word "named" can somebody tell me of the significance of the word as I have not encountered it before.

Any help in tracing Hawe would also be appreciated.
