West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / John and Elisabeth McInlay Campbell Family of Uphall
« on: Tuesday 17 February 15 00:13 GMT (UK)  »
I do think I have linked this family to my Elizabeth/Elisabeth Campbell Galloway married Thomas Galloway in Stirling in 1807.

I have found John and Elisabeth McInlay Campbell  Uphall
Children:
Robert 1781
Elisabeth 1783
John  1786
George  1788
Archibald 1790
Blair  1792
Marion  1794
Alison  1797
John 1802

Marion might have married a James Halden..but I am not sure

I have found a death record for a George Campbell  June 20, 1847 no age, died in Broxburn, interred in Uphall. I did fine a George Campbell on the 1841 census in Uphall, a fiddler, age 53. Other name on census was a Jemima Campbell, 66.

Just wondering if anyone has this family in their tree, any more info on them - especially John and Elisabeth (like what was John's occupation and parents name for both he and Elisabeth) and maybe what cemetery George or maybe more of the Campbells would be buried in?

Thanks for any help on this!

How and where do I order those records?

How much do they cost?

What information would be on them...especially looking for parents names...would they be on the records?

Thanks

Armagh / Mary Ann Simpson born 2 June, 1856
« on: Wednesday 31 March 10 23:57 BST (UK)  »
Mary married William Thomas Taylor on 8 June, 1880 at Charlemont Church of Irleand, Parish Loughgall. Her address on the record says Aghinlig. On the record it says her father was John Simpson, no mothers name, and that he was a farmer. Mary was a School Teacher (she also taught music).

I just found out this info but now can't find birth records for either mary or William...and would like to find the mother's name both for Mary and William. William's father was Robert Taylor and both he and William were Land bailiff's...I know William was for Lord Charlemont. William's birth was 21 July, 1855.

Thanks

Does anyone know how old this bar/pub is and if it still around?

I'm looking to see if it goes/went back to the late 1800's.

Thanks,

The Common Room / Grauxe name
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 21:49 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone ever come across this name? I have just found a 1915 death record for Jane Murdock Harvey(Harvie) with the mothers name as Margarett Grauxe. I have seen 2 different birth places for Jane...one London, the other Newcastle. Her Father Benjamin Murdock was born in Nova Scotia and must have gone to England...married there...had 3 children. In a newspaper article on Jane's death it said she and her family moved back to NS when she was young.
Other problem is on one of her brother's death records it was listed that his mothers name was Martha Conum...not sure if that was spelled right...could be Croum or Coram...I have had no luck with any of the spellings!

Thanks for any help

Northumberland / Jane de Ferris Murdock born about 1833
« on: Tuesday 07 July 09 23:23 BST (UK)  »
I am still trying to find info on Jane.

What I have so far is my Great, Great, Great Grandfather was a Benjamin Murdock born in Nova Scotia about 1796. I am trying also to prove he was the son of a Rev James Murdock, first Presbyterian Minister in that area (James and his parents came from Ireland). Seems at some point Benjamin went to England. Seems he had a James about 1825, John about 1827 and Jane about 1833. I have found the 2 sons on a 1850 New York census as ship carpenters. On the 1860 census Benjamin and John are farmers living next to each other. Seems James stayed in NY. Ben and John then move to the west side of Michigan and are buried in Berrien Springs...Ben in 1874 (and of course no parents listed on his death record) and John in 1903...now he lists Ben as his father and a Martha Conum as his mother. I can't seem to find any Conums on message boards but can find Corum's or Coram's...so it might have been mis-spelled. I then find Jane in Nova Scotia married to a William Harvie (Harvey) in 1850. That record said she was born in London but just today saw an obit on her death...it states: she died on April 9, 1915, was the former Jane de Ferris Murdock, a member of one of the oldest and best-known families in Nova Scotia. Her Grandfather being the Rev James Murdock, first Presbyterian Minister there, that she was born on Newcastle-on-Tyne, England and that the family moved to Nova Scotia when she was very young.
If anyone could find some info on this family...it sure would be appreciated!
I'm not sure where the "de Ferris" would have come from?  Is it French?

Thanks for any help.

West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / Elizabeth Campbell Galloway
« on: Monday 12 January 09 20:04 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find a birth record for Elizabeth for around 1791.

On the 1851 census it said she was born in Uphall. Linlithgow...this was the first time in any record I had seen that.

Elizabeth married Thomas Galloway in Stirling in Jan 1807. I think they were both young. I have no info on where or when Thomas was born. I am wondering if he was also from the Uphall area?

It seems he was a baker and they moved around a lot. Some of his sons became bakers....wondering if his father was also a baker.  Any other "Galloway" bakers out there? The "old" family story had her from Jura...ran off with the gardener.....not believing that now  :)

They had Elizabeth in Dec of 1807 in Alloa, Mary 1809 in Edingburgh, Jean 1811 Mid Calder, Thomas 1813 Mid Calder, James 1814 Mid Calder, Janet 1819 Glasgow, Margaret 1822 Glasgow, Robert 1824 Glasgow and Helen 1829 in Hamilton.

Can anyone help me with this very thick brick wall of mine?  :)

Thanks,
Karen

Tyrone / Taylors & Simpsons from Drumgrannon, Moy
« on: Monday 07 February 05 01:19 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for any information on William Thomas Taylor (b about 1855) and Marianne Simpson Taylor (b about 1856). I have a baptism record for their 3rd child at St James Church (Church of Ireland) in Moy, Tyrone/Armagh so am assuming first 2 sons were born there and maybe they were married there.
I know William was a farmer and Land Bailiff for Lord Charlemont and Marianne was a Teacher and Music Teacher.
The whole family went to Birkenhead, England late 1800's.
I know William had 6 sisters. I think one might have ran an Inn.

Note: two topics on same family merged
