Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / De Haan
« on: Tuesday 26 July 16 11:48 BST (UK)  »
In Harold House, Waltham Cross. In 1933 resident was one J. J. Cornelius de Haan. He’s also recorded there in 1937, and a J. de Haan (either him or his son, perhaps) is recorded there in 1970. The company (De Haan) was dissolved in 1971 this was probably due to the death of J. de Haan. Could anyone with info on this family let me know.
Many thanks
Paul

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / DOVEY Portsea
« on: Friday 04 July 14 12:45 BST (UK)  »
Louisa Ann DOVEY Baptised 11 Feb 1810 Portsea Hampshire, Daughter of Clement and Louisa DOVEY. I know the family relocated to (Marylebone) St.Pancras London.  Attached to Louisa I have the St Pancras 1841 census where in the house are:  George DOVEY 20 Henry DOVEY 15 Clement DOVEY 25 Louisa DOVEY 30 Jane DOVEY 30. I realise these are only approx ages due to the census, but Clement and Louisa did not have children called George or Henry and Jane would or should have been marked as 25 not 30.  Due to this I am wondering if I have the correct household.  For info Clement and Louisa's children were and in brackets ages at 1841 census : Louisa Ann 1810 (31), William Wellington c1812 (29), Clement John 1814 (27), Jane Elizabeth 1817 (24), Caroline 1824 (17), John William 1831 (10), Eliza Elizabeth 1834 (7), Edwin Arthur [Thomas Edwin] 1839 (2).  There was also it seems another child Sarah Ann 1831, but she took her mothers maiden name of KNIGHT. Clement and Louisa are listed in the 1841 census at St.Pancras but only with Caroline 1824 (17), John William 1831 (10), Eliza Elizabeth 1834 (7), Edwin Arthur [Thomas Edwin] 1839 (2).  any ideas anyone...

Berwickshire / Hood Family
« on: Wednesday 16 October 13 13:26 BST (UK)  »
I am searching for Thomas Hood born c1785.  The only definate information I have that is he married an Ann before 1814 and that a child Jane was born Kyloe Parish in Jan 1814 and died in May 1814, according to other information i have there were 6 other children born before 1827 at Beal (Kyloe Parish).  One possible marriage is at Lamberton Toll on page 28 in the Lamberton Toll Records of George Lamb there is an entry for Thomas Hood and Anne Simmons. I don't think anything but the lists survive but those two names were on the same page although not next to each other. I don't know if they married each other though. George Lamb's record years were for the period of 1804 to 1816.  Thomas died in 1840 on Lowick (if i have the correct one).

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Hood of Beal
« on: Friday 11 October 13 10:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi all. Looking for informaton on John Hood married to an Alice, surname unknown at this time.  I have been tracing the family of Thomas Hood born 1785 and his son John born 1819 at Beal and I have discovered another John and would like a bit of help.  John Hood and Alice according to Lowick Presbyterian baptisms 1804-1849 had 4 children Elizabeth b 1828, Jane b 1830, Thomas b 1832 and John b 1834 all at Beal, if Elizabeth was the first child then marriage was possibly 1825 - 1828, possible birth for John around 1804.  My other John married Isabella Henry in 1848 and then Jane Robson in 1871, his father was Thomas b 1785 and married Ann Simmons, Thomas's father was Thomas and he married Elizabeth Armstong in c1776  As far as I can find out I am the only one in this line to carry on the name Hood, so any help would be great.

Northumberland / Jane E STEVENSON - Newbiggin
« on: Monday 23 September 13 15:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am trying to confirm the parents of the above, born in Newbiggin in 1844.  I have parents of John and Rebecca, john born 1795 in Ireland and Rebecca born 1786 also in Ireland.  This would have made her 58 when Jane was born and even older when Jane's brother Robert was born, just seem to get the feeling I am following the wrong family or were they her grandparents and not parents.  Nb 1851 census is at  Detail: HO107/2406/39 p 17

Jane married John ALLISON in Newcastle in 1866.

Thanks for help
