Dublin / Need help to find out who James Duffy was
« on: Tuesday 24 September 13 09:39 BST (UK)  »

I have my 2 g.grandmother death certificate - Ellen Whitmore nee Wickham died Dublin 3rd Sept 1905.

Attached to the death cert is a hand written note making changes to the death cert. i.e. in  cols 5 & 7 changing her husband to deceased and  adding his occupation.  But the declaration was made by James Duffy  :o - son of deceased. (I can post this had written note if it helps)

I don't know where James Duffy came from.

Ellen married William Whitmore 1st march 1859 in the Registrars Office Dublin South.

They had five children which I found on the Irish 'genealogy church records website.
Mary Eliza Born 1859
John Joseph born 1861
Robert Born 1864 (my direct line)
Christopher Samuel Born 1867
Sarah Born 1869

I have traced John, Robert and there marriages, Christopher died 1868 and Sarah, although she never married she did have two children.

I cannot find anything on Mary Eliza. I presumed she died before the start of civil registration, but since I received this death cert (about 6 months ago) I have looked for a marriage for her to a James Duffy (in case it should have read son-in-law but I have had no luck.

I am puzzled as to who James Duffy is  ??? - any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Lanarkshire / Trying to find John Murray and his wife ellen
« on: Tuesday 12 March 13 09:32 GMT (UK)  »

Hi all,  I have hit a brick wall with this couple and I am wondering if anyone can help find what happened to them.

John Murray - son of James Murray and Sarah Monaghan.  In 1851 Census living at 93 High St, Glasgow.   Born Ireland 1837 according to census.

Ellen/Helen Mason - daughter of Joseph Mason (Hairdresser) & Mary thornbury/Thornberry.  Fairly sure Ellen was born in Stranraer, Wigtownshire 1827.

They married April 1856 groom age 19 and bride age 22.  In Jan 1857 they had a child - Mary who died 3 days later. After this I can find no trace of them.

any help finding this couple after this date would be appreciated.   :) they are the very last of my scottish family that I cannot trace.

Thank you

Dublin / Help locating 3 Rosemary Lane, dublin
« on: Monday 11 March 13 16:22 GMT (UK)  »

I have a birth of a child at 3 Rosemary Lane, Dublin, from the Irish genealogy website in 1891.   this child died in 1892, buried in glasnevin and the address is also 3 Rosemary Lane.

I cannot find 3 Rosemary Lane on the census in 1901.  Rosemary Lane is there alright but from no.'s 7.1 to 8.7

Does anybody know if no. 1 to no.6 cease to exist by 1901 or would part of the census be missing ? ???   I am unable to find the family on the census at all.

As always any help would be appreciated  :)
