Lancashire / Thomas Buckley... You have me baffled
« on: Tuesday 05 February 13 19:35 GMT (UK)  »
updated:

i know who the children of Thomas jnr are, but i dont know where he was in 1891 or 1901
i also need to find Thomas Snr who passed before 1921
thats where im at now ::) (before i delve into Bridgets side)

Thomas Buckley (jnr) b1881 married Bridget Wyse (wise) in 1903 in Ireland, moved back to Manchester in 1906ish with Bridget and children. In 1911 he was a foundry labourer.
Later married Elizabeth Ridings/Harding in 1921
His occupation was labourer, age 41
His father, also Thomas Buckley (snr)is listed as dead in 1921, his occupation was lithographic printer.

Im now trying to locate where Thomas Buckley Jnr was pre 1900 and also more info on his dad :)

Thanks for the help so far guys :) its clearing up my confusion so much!

Lancashire / Where could they be buried
« on: Wednesday 13 June 12 11:04 BST (UK)  »
Im trying to locate where my great x3 grand uncle and his wife may be buried.
I have used the LPC and the Oldham and Manchester buriel sites and so far nothing.

I know they werent RC,

Their names were Benjamin Cockcroft (1834-1886) and Sarah Ann Cockcroft (1837–1887)
They ran the Sir Humphrey Chetham Inn, in Clayton (info from probate)

I found some of their children at phillips park but cant seem to actually find them

any suggestions?

Spanks :)

Lancashire / Missing marriage record etc
« on: Wednesday 02 May 12 13:12 BST (UK)  »
My tree started to link up with another last night, and myself and the other tree owner had a little chat about what we knew about the families.
Today i thought i would go and fill the blanks in on marriages, children etc

my starting person is
Charlotte Kenyon born 12 Mar 1875, Manchester (Parents Richard Kenyon and Eliza Clay)
I have Charlotte on the census until 1891 (RG12, Piece: 3245; Folio 14; Page 22)
Then the trail lies cold until 1911 when the new persons tree has her with a Joseph Knowles (b1873 preston)
The 1911 census has them as being married for 19 years. (District: 467, Sub: Newton Heath, Piece:24257, RG14)
The only marriage records i can find for Charlotte Kenyons are:
1891
Thomas Mayo
1893
Albert V Brierly
John M MacCallum
1897
John William Clegg
my search was until 1901 and when i searched Joseph Knowles name the BMD site had no hits at all from 1880-1901 to a spouse called Charlotte.
There are children in the 1911 census,
Selina Knowles 1891 –
Mary A Knowles 1896 –
James Knowles 1904 –
Elizabeth Knowles 1906 –
Florrie Knowles 1909 –

I found the baptism records for James, Elizabeth and Florrie all at St Luke, Miles Platting with a Joseph and Charlotte Knowles as parents, no baptisms for Selina or Mary though.
Both Mary and Selina got married at St Lukes.
I cant find the family in 1901

Im not sure what to do now, does anyone think my tree may have linked wrong due to incorrect info on the other tree? ???

Lancashire / a little help
« on: Tuesday 01 May 12 16:39 BST (UK)  »
hi all,

im currently looking into my Grimshaw line and having trouble locating them on the census's

My great x3 grandmother was Caroline Grimshaw b1828
i found her baptism at Manchester Cathedral on 8th April 1828 and it lists her parents as Edward and Elizabeth,
I found the marriage record for Edward Grimshaw and Elizabeth Wilson (23rd Oct 1826)
I found 2 other baptisms that could be possible siblings of Carolines;
John Grimshaw    B: 1833
Sarah Grimshaw B: 1836

I just cant seem to find the family on any of the census's could someone else have a look with fresh eyes as ancestry is coming up blank for me.

Thanks all :)

If i pop along to the Library to check a marriage record am i likely to get the fathers names off it, rather than paying the full amount for a cert that may be useless to me?

the marriage was in 1870

(i am right in thinking that central library has the records for St Johns arent i ?)

thanks :)
