Tyrone / Elizabeth Quinn birth
« on: Monday 03 April 17 19:51 BST (UK)  »
Seeking the birth details of Elizabeth Quinn, who married James O’Neill in Ardboe parish, Co Tyrone, on 30 September 1920. Elizabeth stated that she was a minor (under 21), and that her father was Patrick Quinn, a labourer. It is not known exactly when she was born, nor where. Elizabeth died 18 October 1932 aged 29 years.
So far, searches for her birth in Co Tyrone have proved negative.
I wish to know if anyone has information concerning an Elizabeth Quinn, probably born between 1900 and 1905, whose father was Patrick Quinn, a labourer.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I wish to know if anyone has information concerning Elizabeth Quinn who was born in Mountnorris on 5 March 1902. Her father was Patrick Quinn, a labourer, and her mother’s maiden name was Mary McParland. Elizabeth was the youngest of eight children, and the family appears in the 1911 census –   http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Mountnorris/Mountnorris/305501/
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Antrim / Close, Thomas F of Larne
« on: Saturday 07 June 14 04:02 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the history of Moortown Primary School, Ardboe, Co Tyrone.
Thomas F Close was principal of the boys’ school from 1 June 1941 until 3 August 1945. I believe that he was from Larne, Co Antrim, and that he died there shortly after leaving his post. It appears that he had contracted tuberculosis. He was 30 years old when sickness forced his premature retirement.
I would be grateful if anyone has any knowledge of him or any remaining relatives.
I hope to create a short profile of him for inclusion in the school history book and I would also like to obtain photographs, if any exist. Thomas Close was that rare person from his period – a teacher who was immensely popular with his pupils.

I believe that these are his parents, in the 1911 census: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Larne/Roddens_Road/196914/

And that this is the 1901 census return for his paternal family: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Kilwaughter/Ballyloran/995264/

I am fairly certain that the attached birth certificate is the correct one.

And he appears again in the 1911 census in Co Tyrone, where he was teaching –
