Lancashire Lookup Requests / Looking for Reanney and Maggs
« on: Tuesday 01 November 11 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have been asked by a friend to find his great grand parents and beyond.
His maternal grandmother was Lilian Reanney born Sept Q 1918 in West Derby Liverpool and maternal grandfather was John Herbert Maggs born March Q 1906 in Ormskirk. I have found John in the 1911 census living as a border aged 5 with the Clarke family so I wonder why he was a border at such a young age??

Any help would be appreciated

The Common Room / Not sure where to post this??
« on: Sunday 07 August 11 23:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi
this is a strange one... I have the will of my 3x grandfather. It was made in 1814 and proved in 1817. The problem is that when he died, very suddenly, his trusted people went through his personal files and found a draft will which was then copied out .. in the draft will it only gave initials for the people bequeathed to and this is the copy on National Archives ... as in CC (his wife) .. C & E his daughters (Caroline and Emily) but also it had his siblings as initials too who I have now idea about who they are.

Would the will have been written in full somewhere with the full names of those bequeathed too?? If so does anyone have any idea where I could get a copy

Many thanks

The Common Room / baffled .. but not for the first time!!
« on: Saturday 30 April 11 22:20 BST (UK)  »
I am looking up a sensitive side of my daughters tree... [i.e. the tree of my ex her line on his side] ... after many, many years of doing family history research I have never come across in the registers the same marriage by two different names.

The person I am looking for is known as Maisie Landy who married William E Hagland.... in the register it notes a Maisie Landy married to Hadland   in Dec 1929 but also it notes a Maisie 'Laudy' to a Hadland .. and they have the same GRO ref.

I can't  find the birth of a Maisie Landy or Laudy either any help/explanation  would be well appreciated

London and Middlesex / Petticoat Lane 1903
« on: Sunday 13 February 11 22:42 GMT (UK)  »
Just thought I would share this great film footage from 1903. My grand dad was born in Upton in 1884 and stayed in London until C1910. This gives a fabulous insight as to what folk wore back then and the activities happening in the market place ....

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / some repair needed
« on: Sunday 03 October 10 21:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi
This photo was found in my grand dads things. He is the one in the foreground with the chefs hat on.
Love the fact he continued to 'chef' way past his retirement and the young ones around him....

I hope someone can magically sort out the 'folds' and some colour would be marvellous

Many thanks
