London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Lewisham Marriage 1850
« on: Monday 11 September 06 17:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi all I wonder if someone could be so kind as to lookup the marriage of what I hope is my 2nd great grandparents. As far as I know they could have been married in Lewisham Dec 1850 their names are William Calderwood and Ann Mead, from a census in 1881 in Glasgow William was born in England and Ann born in Ireland I do not have anymore info. Other than on William's death certificate was an army pensioner died at the age of 72, I believe that they could have met while William was at Greenwich Woolwich Arsenal.

Thanking all in advance for their kind help

I wonder could someone please look up for me William Calderwood age approx 23 years in the 1851 census for London Woolwich Arsenal. I am hoping to find my 2nd great grand father I do not know where he was born or anything about him. Before my great grandmother Elizabeth Calderwood born in England married my great grandfather in Glasgow 1883. William on his death certificate was an army pensioner and I believe he may have been at the arsenal in1851.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can do the lookup for me.

Sligo / Kerrigans Killerry Sligo
« on: Friday 28 April 06 16:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi I have tried to find where my 3rd great grandparents lived. I have noticed that in the Griffiths Valuations  1858 for Lavally West Killerry there is a head of Household a Patrick Kerrigan. Then in the 1901 Census for there the head of household is a Bridget Kerrigan Lavally West Killerry Tirerrill Sligo . Could anyone help me in finding if this is my family as, I can get no further with this brickwall.

Hi Audrey,

I have a Patrick Kerrigan married Bridget McGowan Saint Molais's Rc Church Feb 1852 They had a least 3 sons first Christened Denis Feb 1853  same church. the other two sons one is my great grandfather Charles born around 1859 and Patrick born around 1863. They came to Glasgow and married and settled here for some reason my side of the family name changed in 1901 census for Glasgow from Kerrigan to Carrigan.

This I found out after I had been searching for Carrigans till I found Charles marriage certificate the name was Kerrighan do not bother with this spelling as his brothers name was Kerrigan Scots ear and Irish accent.

That is all I really know but there were two Patricks in the Griffiths Valuations 1858 for Sligo one at Killerry and the other at Drumcliff, but this only gives head of households so you can see the brickwall. Even they may not be my Patrick he may have not been head of the house if they stayed with either family

Regards Robert Carrigan ( Kerrigan)

PS Do not have any birth certificates to establish when the year they were born.

« on: Monday 17 April 06 09:06 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out if the following people are brothers.

Robert Gunnion circa 1740 Ruthwell Drumfries
and
George Gunnion crica 1745 Ruthwell Drumfries

Robert is my 6th Great grandfather I have got back to him but cannot find who his parents were or any siblings.

I believe that George is buried along side Roberts wife Mary Gunnion nee Morpath and son James Gunnion in the Kirkyard at Ruthwell which makes me think there is a relationship between Robert and George.

Thanking any help in advance

Leitrim / Kerrigans
« on: Monday 05 December 05 10:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I have reached a point in my search for my 2nd Great Grandparents Patrick Kerrigan and Bridget McGowan. I have found their marriage they married in Cliffony Ahamlish Sligo in Feb 1852. The problem is finding where they lived and died. I now believe Bridget may have stayed near Cliffony but Patrick may have come from just over the border in Leitrim as in the Griffiths Valuations of the time has Patricks in Leitrim. So therefore they could have lived and died in Leitrim. What I hope some can do is help me disprove or prove this thought. So if anyone has information on the Patricks in Leitrim at time could you please help get past this brickwall
Thanking all in advance Robert ( Kerriag ) Carrigan
