Hampshire & Isle of Wight / The Elliott family of Bramley / Tadley / Motrimer
« on: Monday 26 November 12 01:42 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the connection between members of my family I know to be related, but no one can remember how!

My great great grandmother was Mary Elliott (b. 19 April 1840, Stratfield Mortimer). Her father was Thomas Elliott (b. 8 Feb 1809, Bramley) and her mother was Harriet (I think Rivers) - they were married 2 Dec 1830, Priors Dean. I believe Thomas and Harriet had around 9 other, but the only other name I know is Rose (31 July 1853).

Then, there is the branch of the family we have stayed in contact with, within living memory, whom my father always referred to as cousins. They are the children (same generation as my father, so probably born around the early 1920s) of a David Elliott - a farmer from Tadley / Little London.

Does anyone know how Mary Elliott and David Elliott were related? I'm sure I once knew but sadly never wrote it down.

Dorset / MELMOTH family in Dorset
« on: Friday 15 June 12 23:01 BST (UK)  »
My great great grandmother was called Eliza Melmoth. She married Joseph Tapper in 1846 in Bryanston, Dorset.

I found this:
DURWESTON - 1841 CENSUS
62; Water Streeet; Henry MELMOTH; 60; Ag lab; Y; F9P11
62; Water Streeet; Christiana MELMOTH; 60; Y; F9P11
62; Water Streeet; Thomas MELMOTH; 30; Ag lab; Y; F9P11
62; Water Streeet; Eliza MELMOTH; 20; Y; F9P11
62; Water Streeet; Ellen MELMOTH; 15; Y; F9P11
62; Water Streeet; James MELMOTH; 1; Y; F9P11

It seems quite likely that this is her living with her family - father Henry and mother Christiana :-\  Can anyone confirm?

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any info at all on a William Riggs. He was married to a Mary (surname unkown) and they had a son, Frederick Riggs, who was born in Milton Abbas  in c.1832. Frederick went on to marry a Mary House.

Any info. on either Mary would also be appreciated.  :)
